Someone make me face reality!!!

OK I am driving myself nuts quietly and need some sense talked into me!! I am 41 and me and OH have been trying to conceive for almost 4 years. Had all the tests and classed as unexplained fertility but because of age we wont get help from NHS.. anyways I digress... my cycles are usually between 27 and 31 days so fairly "normal" I bleed for around 3 - 4 days fairly heavily for the first 2 -3 days and then tapering off.. again fairly normal I think. Anyway this month had everything crossed as I do every month and then at lunch time on day 27 AF started but only very light. I bled much lighter than normal but dark brown old blood for about 24 hours and then nothing... then I had a small bleed at about 48 hours but just old brown blood that didn't even require a pad, then again nothing for about another 24 hours, then the same thing.. this has gone on for about 5 days with the odd tiny bleed (just noticeable on tissue paper). On top of this I felt nauseous (badly) on day 28 and 29 but now just the odd wave. I have tingly/itchy nipples on and off which I generally never have except for a day or so before AF is due. I feel spaced out generally and a little bit grotty. I feel like AF is due? Ive taken 3 tests over the last few days and all BFN so it must just be a weird period/month for me. Please someone give me a virtual reality check!!

Give it another couple days and test again...

That said, I often get only brown blood periods. Sometimes periods change or are slightly unusual. You are likely to be hyper vigilant because of trying for so long!

Tested again but still bfn 😕 Just going to have to put it down to a weird period I guess. Still got other symptoms but maybe just imagining it 😔

wardy sorry to hear about your difficulties. Depending on how your symptoms progress you could try testing again in a few days but these tests can get costly and not always useful or accurate, so I would avoid POAS too many times! Maybe focus on how you feel and book in with your GP for tests too?

I agree with physicskate that af can be weird. I had an unusually short and light one last month and it turned out to be nothing. I am currently ttc and slowly driving myself bananas with symptom spotting so have every sympathy! Good luck and I hope it happens for you soon.

Awww FX it's good news. But I'm wondering why you haven't had any NHS help before now? If you've been trying for 4 years you would have been entitled to help 3 years ago, did you have anything at all? That's really sad!!! BUT don't give up hope, while you might have more trouble it's still completely possible to have babies at 41!! Have you tried OPK and temping?

Hi no don't do temping but have had basic fertility tests and I'm ovulating and have higher egg counts than normal for someone of my age.
Didn't go to the doctors for a while as thought it would just happen. After 18 months started to get concerned but life got in the way. By the time I did go and then eventually referred to fertility clinic I was too old and too fat!
I try not to focus on it so much now but this last period threw me as I've always been so regular and not had a 24 hour period in almost 30 years! I think I'm reading too much into it c

It's really hard to guess what it could be. Of course FX for you but it could be stress. Have you been feeling more pressure recently? The body is a magical thing and the mind even more powerful. Try to relax, calm yourself and then test in a few weeks. You could be experiencing the rare implantation bleeding everyone mentions.

Thanks, yes have been stressed but not anymore than normal. I guess I'll find out soon enough. If that was my period I'm on cycle day 10 so only a couple of weeks to see if she shows up this month x
