Conceiving after mirena?

Hopeful about conceiving...after mirena
Hi there, just need someone to offload to really. My husband and I are ttc after 4 years on mirena coil. We had intercourse the night before I had mirena removed and a couple of days before then too. Since removal last week, I had a bit of slight bleeding followed by brown spotting. Sorry for tmi, however this morning when I orgasmed I got some really strong cramps, so much so I had to lie down until it subsided. I'm hopeful that I could be pregnant but fully expect to be trying for some time before it happens for us. Just wondering what other people's experiences have been? I continued to havd regular periods on mirena, though much lighter.

I had merina removed 25 July. Never bled with it in. (Only in 8 months). Had 36 day cycle. Then heaviest, longest AF I've ever had. Now on cd 46. No sign of AF.

I had a Mirena for 3 years and like you had really regular but light periods. When I had it removed I had a slight withdrawal bleed but then conceived two weeks later and went on to have a successful pregnsncy.

After the birth of DS I had another Mirena out in (just over 2 years ago) which I had removed in January in order to TTC #2 and again I was pregnant within a month of having it removed (although unforrunately it ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks).

Good luck with your journey Flowers

With my first child I had mirena removed and then had a slight withdrawal bleed for a few days. I had not had any periods while the Mirena was in.

It then took 7 weeks to have a period. I had one normal cycle following and then was pregnant the next cycle so didn't take too
long.

Just a word of caution, in the time I was waiting for first AF I had all pregnancy symptoms under the sun. It was likely just my body getting back to normal so be aware this can happen. Good luck Smile

Had Mirena fitted a few months after DC2, and had it in for 3 years. Had it removed in May last year, cycle went back to normal (28 days) very quickly and I fell pregnant in the August at the age of 41 - so don't think Mirena had any negative effect on my fertility. Good luck OP.

Had mirena for many years, had it removed and after 6 months of not cycling I was referred to the fertility clinic and had to have various medications to kick start my cycles.

Had the mirena for 5 years. I conceived within 2 weeks of having it removed. (Went on to have two mc then one full term pregnancy).

When I had my mirena installed the nurses told me that it was the contraceptive that allowed your fertility to return to normal after removal the fastest.

I had a BFP today and had Mirena removed 5 weeks ago - no periods with it or since. What should I use for dating? Concerned to read about risk of miscarriage too

I had mine for four years but it became embedded and I needed surgical help to remove it, followed by a D&C. I conceived immediately and had a mc, then conceived immediately again and had my youngest baby.

I conceived DTs approx 6 weeks after Mirena was removed. No issues.

Yes I know, I don't like to hear about mc either, but it can happen in any pregnancy so I'll try not to think about it. If you've been resting regularly since ttc your bfp would be around 4wks perhaps? I kept track of my dates with my 2nd baby and was still a week behind at my dating scan lol. Great news for you, congratulations x

Thank you MrsATtc - it was the first test so I'm not sure, just felt so rubbish I thought I would try. Guess I just sit tight for a bit and hope for the best!

I test once a week at the weekends. Started using opk as I have no idea what's going on. Have every pg symptom going. Line on opk getting stronger. Have no idea if that means I'm ovulating or pg. never used opk before. Last cycle was 36 days. Now on cd49.
