Could anyone give me some advice please? PCOS

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you would mind letting me know how long it was from you first seeing the doctor to getting your referral and then finally fertility help?
My potted history - I have had less than 5 periods in my life. Was TTCig with my ex for two years, diagnosed with PCOS (through internal scan, bloods were inconclusive) 2000mg of Metformin and 50mg of Clomid with no ovulation (only one round of Clomid as then split up with ex)
5 years later with now DH have been off the pill since Dec 2015 and no periods again. Saw a doctor who said DH needed a sperm test (he is fine) and I needed bloods to be referred. Got these, and saw second doc who said I couldn't be referred without having tried for a year. We had a bit of a (gentle) argument and he said that he would refer us.
So I was wondering typically how long this takes, and what they are likely to recommend? I am 31 and DH 32.
