Hello
Been doing a small experiment this month and testing with OPK 4 a day throughout my fertile window here are the results:

CD 16 - Negative
CD 17 - Negative
CD 18 - Positive
7am Faint Positive
10 am Dark Positive
3pm Dark Positive (test line darker than control)
9pm Faint Positive
CD 19 - Negative

I think I have ovulated yesterday evening between 3pm and 9pm what do you think? We DTD on CD 17 and CD 18 - was planning on giving us a rest tonight.

Hi Sweet, I've just posted a very similar question so thought I'd reply to you to start us both off Smile
Once you've had a line darker than the control then that indicates the LH surge.

In most cases the LH surge happens anywhere from 0-48 hours before ovulation. I've read variants of this including 12, 24, 36 hours etc.

OPKS are predictors of ovulation, and the only way to confirm at home that ov actually took place is by temping and seeing sustained higher temps. Successful ovulation results in higher levels of progesterone and it's that that raises your bbt.

I reckon you did get your LH surge, so ovulation could well have happened by now, yay Smile

Take a break tonight if you need to. In perfect conditions sperm can apparently live for up to 5 days so one night should be fine. I'm hoping so anyway because after 9 cycles DH and I are struggling to manage it every single day too.

Fingers crossed for you that this is your month.

NolmBridgetJones wow that's such a useful reply. Really appreciate you taking time to reply to me - I'm guessing my surge was yesterday afternoon/evening so hopefully we caught it with intercourse both yesterday and day before. Will see how we both feel tonight.... If we can squeeze another session it might be worth it.

P.S. the pelvic pain on my right hand side has gone today (was quite evident yesterday though)

Ovulation will occur (all being well) on cd19 or cd20. As pp said though, the only way you can confirm this is with temping.

Ovulation usually occurs the day after a positive opk. So jump on it!

Just to note you only had the one positive - anything not at least as dark or darker than the control line is classed as negative. Sounds like you covered your fertile window, fingers crossed for you!!
