Has anyone ever had a late AF and BFNs that turned into a BFP?

Hi everyone, I'm now CD41 of a usually pretty regular 30/31 day cycle. My AF was due around nine days ago but no sign. Been having mild cramps on and off and then had slight brown spotting CD38/39 which I thought might turn in to AF but it was just ever so slight (like only on wiping - sorry) and then gone. When AF was due I used a frer which was negative. Since, I've used a few ic which have all been negative apart from one questionable one and a CB digital which said not pregnant. I've been reading about anovulatory cycles and late ovulation but I did have a lot of ewcm around cd20-22 which then turned more like school glue. Other things which are a bit out of character are fatigue and really vivid dreams. Would really appreciate anyone else's advice/experiences as I totally understand it could just be that I haven't ovulated or ovulated late but also can't help but have that bit of hope! Thank you.

It's possible. SIL didn't get a positive until she was seven weeks.

So hard, I was two weeks late last month and had every finger and toe crossed but it wasn't to be.

Good luck.

Thanks KP did you ever find out why you're might've been late? Did it ever happen again? It is so hard being in limbo. Just want to get on with the next cycle if no bfp.

I have rather dodgy cycles and hormones (PCOS without the cysts), but have been regular with five weekly periods for around a year so I was very surprised. Didn't bother investigating it, and we will see what happens this month. I'm due in the next few days (five weeks) but no signs yet.

Hope it stays away for a good reason this time Smile Thanks again for your advice.

Thanks and you too :)

BTW, SIL had no reason for the delayed positive - just happened that way.

I got a BFP a week after AF was due. I think I must've ovulated late.

Are you usually regular? I think I'd probably wait until I was 2 weeks late and then see my GP and ask for a blood test.

Hi rae It's hard to say for sure, came off the pill in April and had a 25/30/31 and now onto 41. I'll be two weeks late this weekend if AF doesn't show so might go to the GP next week even if not pregnant just to rule out anything else that might be going on.

I am now also in this limbo stage. Af due to days ago and no sign. First month I've not been temping so can only base ovulation on cm and the pains I always get. For the last year my cycles have either been 27 or 28 days. Today is cd30. We've been trying so long and our chances are so slim that I don't want to get my hopes up. So far only had the odd bit of af type cramping but every time I think it's starting to ramp up and af is here it stops. Boobs are also really sore. Typical as I'm on holiday and only brought two tests. Did one early today but not fmu or even smu. It was bfn.

Hi Delilah ah i so hope it's good news for you. This limbo is awful. Are you going to save the second test and try again in a few days? I did another test this morning and bfn so I'm starting to lose hope.

Hi poppy, yes I'm going to wait a few days now. I don't go home until Sunday so will just wait it out and test with fmu. I was so sure of my ovulation. I brought super drug early tests so I thought that they would pick it up at this stage regardless of time of day. I have been drinking a lot though as it's warm.
If it's any consolation I came off the pill in Feb and it took until August before I started to have regular cycles. I started temping in November and found that very useful. Then I dropped my thermometer down the loo and didn't bother replacing it last month.

Hi my cycle is usually between 28 and 31 days, currently on day 29. Did a CB test yesterday BFN and a tesco one this morning BFN. I'm going to wait till Wednesday and see if AF has arrived, then test again if not. I'm not getting hopes up tbh but you do hear of people getting BFn for a while due to he hormone levels sill being low, I suppose everyone is different. Fx everyone!

Hi ladies, lovely to hear from you all. I think I def spoke too soon as AF has just arrived. Sad that it didn't happen for us this month but relieved not to be in limbo any more. So on to cycle 4. Think I'm going to try temping this month as I don't know for sure when I ovulate and this mammoth cycle has totally thrown me. Lol at dropping your thermometer down the loo delilah that sounds just like something that would happen to me. Laura I've read so many things recently about it taking a little while for the hormones to rise. Got everything crossed for you all. Let me know how you get on Smile

Aw poppy what a shame. Temping is really good. I got my thermometer on Amazon. This one www.amazon.co.uk/Ovulation-Temperature-Thermometer-fertility-pregnancy/dp/B0026RLTVY/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1472486241&sr=8-6&keywords=Bbt&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
It was very accurate. I used the fertility friend app to log it. After about three months I could see a regular pattern and I could then link the pains to when I was ovulating as I get the cramps for a few days after not before. That's why I thought my ovulation date was a pretty good guess! Will test first thing Wednesday I think if still no af.

Thank you so much Delilah I'm going to order one. Do you usually try to start tracking it from cd1?

I started on cd10 with ovulation on cd13. If you can get a few days temps in before ovulation you should be able to see the rise.

I had a delayed positive. Sorry, I don't do all the tracking and it was a surprise pregnancy. By the time I had a faint positive test I was over 6 weeks pregnant. And it was twins. My singleton pregnancies I've tested positive before AF due every time

My thermometer is arriving today Smile feeling a bit relieved today as this AF is more like the old AFs I would get pre-pill. Others have been lighter and shorter. Hoping that can only be a good thing and feeling positive for this cycle. Thanks for the response alloutifnameideas it just shows how different every woman and pregnancy is. You just never know. Hoping AF is staying away for you all Smile

No af here either and no sign of it. Peeing constantly though and my boobs are killing. Can only hope these are good things. Will be testing again the morning.

Yes I'm at the toilet a lot too, have ordered some test strips online so am planning to do one of those tomorrow, they're more sensitive- 10miu rather than the tests I bought at the shop which were 25miu. Good luck 😊

Report
delilahbucket · 30/08/2016 20:27

I got the super drug early ones which I believe are 10miu. Am in Greece so not so easy to go grab anymore so waited and waited. I'm 17dpo today. Had the cramping again earlier and again, just as I thought it was getting strong enough to make me think af had arrived, they went. It's bizarre. Have never been this late. I don't "feel" pregnant though apart from very sore boobs. This is probably the only cycle I have not had a million "symptoms" to Google!
Good luck to you too!

Well, testing was a total waste of time. BFN!! I was so convinced. That does beg the question though, where the frig is af? This time two weeks ago I was well out of my fertile period judging by cm. Did I not ovulate at all? Wouldn't I still have a period? Gah! I've not had this before and I hate it.

Hope you have some joy soon it's the not knowing that's killing me. If no AF today CD31 then I'm going to test again tomorrow but so far they've all been negative. Keep feeling like AF is about to start but then it doesn't

I just can't understand why my cycle is so long. Im on cd32. Stuck in limbo and not able to do anymore tests until Monday now, although if I'm still in limbo on Monday I'll be going to the docs. I've had so many tests at the fertility clinic but never the day 21 so will be asking for that although I hate giving blood for them as my veins always get damaged and they're running out of veins!
This is cycle 16 for us and dh has antisperm antibodies and I have a low egg reserve. We told last month we wouldn't conceive without icsi so our chances are slim enough without my cycle suddenly going out of whack.

Hi there, please can I join in the limbo dance?!

I'm on day 34 of a usual 29 day cycle. No BFP yet. My DH was ill when I normally ovulate so I'm not even sure if we dtd at the right time! [sceptical]

If it's not BFP I have no idea why I'm so late. Wishing all you ladies lots of luck Flowers xx
