Spotting between Af and ovulation

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had the same or any ideas on what would cause spotting during the follicular phase? I had a miscarriage in May and am on my 3rd cycle since, each time I've had my normal Af (light 3/4 days long) only now it is followed by on off spotting until around day 10. I e been temping and seem to be ovulating on day 12 as normal.

All my googling turns up is low progesterone but I don't think this is likely in the follicular phase. I've never had any spotting prior to the miscarriage. Any ideas?

Hi jingle, sorry to hear of your loss Flowers
If your temps are still all normal I wouldn't worry about it. I've had the odd period seem to trail on a bit like that.

Thanks Danigrace, definitely getting a temp rise so I guess that's the main thing as you say.

It's very likely ovulation bleeding, which is a good sign of fertility. It can last a few days and usually happens before ovulation. Timing works for you...

Hi @jinglebellmel

I know this is an old thread but am on an Internet trawl because I’m having the same issues with no idea what’s happening! Did you get to the bottom of it? Xx

Hi AmesK, Its Jinglbell here with a name change.

I didn't really get to the bottom of it I'm afraid, but it did stop after a few months and has never happened again. I suspect that my hormones were just a little out of balance after the miscarriage - not sure if you have anything that may have disturbed your hormones, it could certainly explain it of so.

I did go on to conceive a few months later if thats of any reassurance to you. Hope you can figure it out.

@Humptydumpty85 Hi! Thanks so much for your reply! I’m sorry you didn’t manage to work out what was happening but I’m glad you managed to get pregnant :) Yes that is very reassuring!

Well I do have PCOS- do you think it’s likely that? I’m just worried because it seems to be way more than previous cycles and it’s this change which has concerned me, if that makes sense? Xx

I'd think PCOS could definitely be responsible. I'd try to make a gp appointment, they should be able to offer you a blood test on a specific day of your cycle which will let them know if any hormones are a bit out. I was completely freaked out as it had never happened to me before, so completely understand the concern- its not a nice feeling when your body starts doing strange things!!

@Humptydumpty85 Do you mean the day 2 and day 21 blood tests? Funnily enough, I just had those before lockdown- the day 21 ones were ok and the day 2 ones showed a ratio of 1:1.6- not terribly sure what that means but I’m assuming it’s off because googling has told me the ratio needs to be 1:1?

You’re right, it’s the fear from not knowing what’s happening- another thing to deal with :(
