Ovulation test help

2nd month ttc and I've purchased ovulation strips. My tests have gradually got darker over the past couple of days, today's test was almost as dark as the control line. Does this mean that I will likely get a positive for a surge in the next couple of days? Just need to make sure DH is around for BM so any help would be great. Thankyou! :)

Surges can happen really quick. I went from a very faint line on an OPK to having a super strong positive within about 4 hours.

Ideally you should be testing twice a day from when your fertile week is approaching.

And don't forget that you are more likely to conceive from sex that is had before ovulation as opposed to around actual ovulation itself - therefore if the lines are getting darker then start having sex so there are lots of sperm ready and waiting for when you do ovulate.

Following ovulation the egg only lives for about 12 hours (I think) so it is important there is sperm waiting up there.

I read somewhere that it can take sperm up to 8 hours to reach the Fallopian tubes which is why only having sex on the day of the surge isn't ideal as by the time the sperm gets up there the egg could have already died.

When you get your positive OPK it means ovulation is likely to occur in the next 12-36 hours so have sex for two days after the positive OPK too.

Thanks Writer that has cleared a few things up for me. I've not had fertile CM though (sorry for TMI) which concerns me a bit. Maybe that will happen over the next few days.

That's another thing that's really different in that some women have loads and some have barely any. Usually I see EWCM on one or two occasions on the same day and then I never see it again. I typically see EWCM about 3 days prior to my OPK turning positive.

Good luck on TTC and I hope it happens soon for you Flowers
