Anyone get pregnant whilst NOT proactively tracking ovulation?

I wrote on here a while back now with a pic of a positive pregnancy test....turned out to be a chemical pregnancy so back to drawing board.

My partner and I are trying to conceive DC2 but trying to take a slightly more laid back approach to avoid too much stress.

We've only had sex twice so far this month and having sat down and thought about it, it would have been a few days before ovulation and the second time would (roughly) been two days after ovulation....

So just curious really, anyone ended up pregnant without tracking ovulation dates?

Me - we just did it when we felt like it and I got pregnant. Apparently if you do it every other day you are onto a winner. We did it almost that much and I know it sounds like a lot but I was up the spout within a month!

Good luck!

I never really tracked ovulation dates with either of my pregnancies. I roughly worked out a rather broad zone in the middle cycle, and assumed that would be the most important time, but I never used an ovulation test or anything. We just adopted the approach of having sex every two or three days when possible. First time, it took us about four cycles to get pregnant. Second time, I got pregnant first month.

It makes sense to do it around ovulation time. Not hard to pin point. If ur short cycle it's right after period and longer cycle more days after. Or if you count backwards 14 days from end of cycle. So if ur 28 days subtract 14 and day 14 most likely fertile and 21 days subtract 14 so day 7 fertile. Obviously give or take a day and look out for egg white discharge. I've notice this is the same for me every month and I got pregnant first try and only having sex once each time (kids are 2 and 4 ) I'm hoping for a third and just waiting for my husband to agree. I'm sure a lot get pregnant just having sex. But we only seem to have sex once a month if thay so I need to pinpoint exactly.

I didnt really track ovulation with any of my four pregnancies, but we did it significantly more than twice a month. Every 2-3 days at least.

Sort of... I did track my ovulation. But DH had v bad back at time so we had v limited once a month sex. Every time i got pregnant (3 times, 2 mc) was times we'd just done it when we felt like it - the months i tried to calculate optimum date didn't work. I think because by time i knew i was ovulating it was too late to dtd.

Same sort of story with DD, I was actively trying to avoid getting pregnant that month, I thought we were more than a week from ovulation when we dtd..

So my view is try doing it when you are horny. Your body knows the best time.
(Disclaimer: this may be woo bollocks)

I didn't track ovulation.

We just had more sex than normal (probably about 3x per week) and didn't stress.

I was pregnant within three weeks, and I have PCOS...

Same as others, didn't track religiously but upped sex to every 2 to 3 days, especially two weeks after my period. Conceived within three months of coming off the pull, which I was grateful for! You never know how easily or not conception will come.

I would have thought a lot of people get pregnant without tracking ovulation unless there are fertility issues. All those unplanned pregnancies for a start. I got pregnant with both mine from just stopping the pill and doing the deed whenever we wanted to.

Didn't track for around 2 years, some cycles dtd every day to every 2 days, some cycles it was twice the month and some cycles twice/three times a week. Also used an app which predicted ov dates and dtd every day in the 'fertile' period some months, and just whenever we felt like it. Nothing happened. Some months I get AF symptoms mid month and don't want to be touched but unsure if this is when I'm ovulating. So this cycle I've started to track so I'm a bit more informed about what is going on. After all this time I'm still none the wiser about when I've ov'ed.
I think it depends on individuals, clearly there are people who have strong symptoms e.g ewcm, get very horny and it just works for them and some people don't. It just means you are more aware and can time dtd if you want to, if not it can only be a good thing to know when you have ov'ed. hope you manage to work out what's best for you soon, good luck! X

Despite only dtd twice the month I have really sore boobs and really tired....weird cramps... My AF is due on the 22nd I think so may just be pre menstrual!

It's unlikely you would get symptoms this early, I'd try and wait until the 22nd (easier said than done I know) and test if you are late.
