I am holding out hope that someone out there can help me and settle my mind .
I am 26 years old with PCOS. My husband and I have one child and we would love to have another to love and care for.
We have been trying since the beginning of the year without any luck, with my PCOS I can not track my periods properly and ovulation is hit and miss. Since my AF on the 13th of last month and all month TTC I have started having extreme nausea, dreadful metallic taste in my mouth and tiredness with vivid dreams. I did a test today and it came back negative which completely broke my heart. If my cycle was how it used to be a while ago and you count a 30-31 day cycle I would not be due on till the 12-13th of this month. Today being the 9th have I tested too early... These symptoms can not be for nothing and I am getting worried... Can anyone help?

Your "symptoms" are likely to be caused by progesterone that is released after ovulation. I get the same every single month. To track your ovulation try opks and temping. Good luck x

So you don't think it could possibly be pregnancy symptoms?

It might just be that you're testing too early or it might be, as PP said that you've ovulated and this is just the progesterone.
I do sympathise though as I also have PCOS. Are you getting any treatment for it? My DS was a Clomid baby but I'm now pregnant with our second after following a low GI diet, taking metformin and having acupuncture.

I am really despondent now...
Treatment - I have been to see my Endocrinologist every 6 months and am allergic to Metformin even the slow release. Hospital are not much help and I have been dealing with this since I was 16 so tried all the things that people suggest.
I am on a diet and taking all the right supplements so hopefully it will happen soon.
I will test after I have officially missed a period or supposedly when my period should have been. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

It really is hard but don't give up hope! You're not out this cycle and you will get there, it's just rarely an easy path with PCOS. Have your doctors tried you on Clomid?

No I desperately wanted to try naturally for a few months...
Maybe after the summer I will go to them.

I just really thought this was it this month as I have never had the symptoms of the high progesterone.

You're not out yet! When are you testing again? Also which test did you use? I was getting negatives on cheap internet tests until 13DPO and even then the line was barely there but much clearer on a FRER.

I am going to test on the 14th, as if I was having a normal cycle I would be due on between the 12th and 13th... I am using Clearblue now. Was using a supermarket own. Trouble is this month I am not sure when I ovulated as I was away and with my sons birthday it was a crazy month. Just wish the 14th would hurry up but I am really scared of this disappointment.

Yeah I've been there! I get so envious of people with regular cycles. How long have to been trying for this time around?

We got married at the beginning of the year and have been trying ever since. Our first was a total surprise and we were younger so we always wanted to get married and then go from there. My husband works a way a lot for 6 months at a time and he leaves in September for 5 months so we wanted to be well on the way by then. He works close to home the rest of the time.
How long did it take you with your second?

17 months this time. It was a surprise when it actually happened as I was waiting for my next appointment with the gynaecologist to come through and he was going to prescribe Clomid again.
It must be hard TTC when your husband works away so much. Can't be nice having the extra pressure!

Oh wow a long time... I have got my head in the space that it probably won't happen for us before my husband leaves as I can't see how it will..

How long do the progesterone symptoms last?

I hardly ever ovulate so not sure, it's just basically that PMT symptoms and pregnancy symptoms can be similar as progesterone is raised is both cases. In pregnancy though your progesterone will stay raised but if you haven't conceived it will drop and your period will arrive.

I am still having quite bad nausea and extreme tiredness but the taste is more on and off but I am now feeling sick when thinking of cooking certain things and so on. I am so bloated it is uncomfortable. I just do not know what to think and like I said before I am so scared to retest. I am thinking it will be better emotionally to give up but we all want this so badly.

I think the time before your period may or may not be due is the worst. I started feeling sick before I found out I was pregnant but still wasn't sure if I'd even ovulated or not.
Hopefully you'll get an answer in a few days. I'm one for testing all the time but I understand not wanting to do it at all. It can be really stressful and emotional.

I just want to know but my husband bought a pack of two tests and said I could do one earlier (which I did the other day too early), and he has made me promise to not do the next one till the 14th in the morning. It is bothering me, I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind off it but I can not do it.
Stressful and emotional is right... how far along are you now?

I'm nearly 15 weeks, it's going quickly!
I guess your husband is trying to protect you from the disappointment of testing too early again? I think it can be hard for men to understand how it feels to not know what's going on inside your own uterus.

oh wow 15 weeks... amazing... such a special time. I am very happy for you.
He protects me in all ways so it is his way of protecting my feelings. The test is here and is so hard to not take it.

I might have to take it in the morning... I know it will probably be too early though.... Do you think it is too early??

I think it really depends on when you ovulated, what the test is like and probably a load of other things. My first pregnancy I got a positive at 11DPO but I got negatives until 13DPO this time.
I think as long as you're prepared for the chance of it being negative then go for it. If you want to be completely sure though then wait an extra few days.

I couldn't wait and I did the test...As I thought negative. I literally give up now. I can not do this anymore. I am beyond heartbroken and wish everyone the best of luck but I can not keep realising my body is just useless and having my dreams crushed. I hope you and your family enjoy your new arrival when he/she arrives.
