When to test?

Ok, so I've coming off depo (should have stayed wearing off in January) and my cycle is a bit screwed up. However I had a proper month gap between April and May periods so I thought it was coming back to normal.

Around 20th-25th of May I was supposed to be ovulating. I didn't manage to get a positive on the OPK, but had other signs (like lots of egg white CM) which suggested I was ovulating. Then I got spotting for three days. I thought it was possibly ovulation spotting, but I don't know if it was a random short period (although this would be weird as only two weeks after last period and at odds with ovulation symptoms).

I was due on on Wednesday. So far nothing, no period, no cramps, no PMT. I'm baffled.

I took a (cheap One Step) pregnancy test on Weds which would have been about 14 days post ovulation (assuming I ovulated). I couldn't see any indication of a second line so I guess it was negative.

I haven't had any early pregnancy symptoms, except feeling excessively tired (which could be for any number of reasons!).

I'm probably not pregnant, but is it worth testing again in a few days? Or should I have had a positive result by 14 dpo?

And if I'm not pregnant, where the heck is my period? I'm so baffled over whether that bleeding a few weeks ago was ovulation bleeding or just an early period. I'm fairly certain I'm not ovulating now (not using OPK right now as was expecting period).

As an aside, I started tracking my body temp but was doing it at the wrong time of day. I've been tracking it correctly got just over two weeks (starting somewhere in my ovulation window) and it's been consistently between 36.5-36.7 C every single day. No peaks of drops.

Any idea what's going on?

Hey hurricane. Can you post your chart? I'm
No expert but know that rather than skipping a period you may just be having a really long cycle. I would maybe wait a few more days till around 18dpo (if you're sure of when you ov) and then test again. If it's a bfn you may just have to wait it out X

Thanks Johno

I don't really have much information on my chart as I only started tracking to my app in April, and even then I haven't always logged every detail, every day

Basically I had my last depo injection at the start of October, with effects due to wear off at Christmas. My periods had stopped entirely during this time.

Mid March, I had my first bleed but I don't think it was a proper period. I had another more normal period two weeks later at the end of March.

To my surprise, I had another period from 12-15 April.

I then had a 29 day gap and came on exactly when expected on 11-13 May (this was shorter and lighter than usual). So at this point I had hoped that my periods were back to normal and expected to have a period on 8 June.

As above, I did have enough bleeding to be a light period from 23-25 May but I thought this was ovulation bleeding, but now I don't know. I'm not sure I ovulated at all, the sticks didn't give a positive but CM definitely suggested I could have been.

I'll post the info I have, but I'm not sure how much help it will be. Could just be that my cycle is still mucked up from the depo.

For what it's worth, before I was on the depo, I had a very regular cycle. I don't know the exact length but it would have been an average 28-30 days, not a long cycle.

Thanks for you help

Wow your temp changes are so tiny- looks so much more uniform that my chart!

It sounds like that may bleed was AF rather than anything else. It's tricky when you're using the apps as they are only as accurate as the amount of info you put in. Sounds like you'll need to keep inputting to get an idea of what's going on.

I know it's frustrating- I came off the pill in October after 13 years and my cycles have varied from 33 to 47 days!

It will settle itself down. I used agnus castus this cycle and think AF may be on the way and that will mean a much shorter cycle this time round Smile

Yeah, I know I must be more consistent with tracking on the app. After I thought I'd ovulated, I got a bit slack, although I have tried to keep up with temp tracking.

So weird if that "ovulation bleed" was actually a period given that I had tons of egg white CM, and then on the 26 May it all just dried up and disappeared. But it may well have been. But if that was a period, then I have no idea when I might potentially ovulate after it. Meh, I think all I can do is give up for this cycle (but keep tracking) and wait for AF, then try to work out when to use the ovulation sticks from there.

Also so confusing. Stupid injection, wish I'd never gone on it and they I'd come off it a year ago. Oh well! I'll take another pregnancy test in a few days, just in case but my gut feeling is that I'm not pregnant

Thanks again

Lol to your "I'll give up (but keep tracking!)"

Tell me about it. I am never ever going back on the pill! I'm on cycle 6 now and my body still playing tricks on me. Envy

Ergh, these chemical contraceptives. You spend your whole life trying not to get pregnant. No one tells you how difficult it actually is! Hope your cycle settles down soon too
