Zika virus coming to Europe - anyone else freaking out?

Hi all

WHO has announced that Zika is likely to arrive in Europe in late spring: www.euro.who.int/en/health-topics/emergencies/zika-virus/news/news/2016/05/who-calls-on-countries-to-prepare-as-zika-virus-expected-to-spread-in-europe-in-late-spring-and-summer www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/18/zika-virus-spread-europe-coming-months-world-health-organisation

I've got a non-refundable holiday booked to Malta in July. I can't work out if we should stop TTC til after then, or see if I get pregnant and if I do cancel the holiday, or just monitor the situation in Malta and cancel if necessary.

The only thing with stopping TTC and going is that if the man catches it, his sperm can be infected for up to six months, and that can affect the women.

Anyone else worried?

It's your call, I cancelled a holiday to Mexico, no way I'd chance it for all the reasons you state. I could rebook but needed proof I was TTC from doctor and had to be quite pushy with tour operator. Time isn't on my side so I wasn't 'wasting' 6 months. I guess the only difference now is if they upgrade from moderate risk.

Robber- make sure you have insurance. If you get pregnant, you can get a gp letter saying you can't go and will get some of the money back.
