help! period but pregnant???

Ok so my dilemma continues.......

You know when you 'just know'

  • excessive tiredness
  • Boobs getting more painful
  • maybe implant feeling twinges.
  • headache, which I never ever get
  • feeling that j could vomit

Well I tested again today even though I am on day 4 of my period, this came up.
This happened for me the 2nd time I got pregnant too.... I had a period and just kind of knew.

I should note that because I have been doing a lot more strenuous and physical excercise lately, that my cycles have shortened from 28 days to 23/24 days, but that's pretty normal for me once I really get into it. So this month was a 24 day cycle before I got my period this Tuesday. Today would be CD27 if I hadn't have got AF for example.

I'm worried because second time I got pregnant this happened, I had a period and a week later kind of just knew something wasn't right, took a test and I was pregnant, but a week after that I started bleeding again (more brown/prune like blood) and went to the hospital to find out it was ectopic.

I hope this one is a real one and I really hope I'm 3rd time lucky.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this??? Help!!! Xx

A lot of people on the forum have chemical pregnancies. This Is where you get a positive test before your period is due and then period arrives because the egg hasn't implanted and you arent pregnant. This is very common and has always happened, we just didn't use to test before periods until they made super sensitive tests. This could be what you are experiencing but it might not.

If you've suffered with ectopic before I would contact your dr for advice!

Theoretically you can't have periods when you are pregnant but it does occasionally happen to some women.

Fx it's a good outcome for you X

Thanks BoBo

My first was chemical.

Second ectopic. A week after AF finished I was feeling really rough and kind of knew deep down I must have been pregnant but it was so ridiculous that I could be because I'd just had my period. I tested just to entertain myself and it was positive until another week later luckily it partly miscarried instead of rupturing my tube and I had to have the sac removed at around 6-7wks.

The exact same thing seems to have happened again. I wonder if it's because my cycles are so short. I'm pretty sure that I ovulate CD11-14, and with a 23/24 day cycle maybe my body is off whack?

I only got a proper BFP for the first time today, despite testing a day before my period was due and everyday thereafter in case (I'm so paranoid about an ectopic).
So my period started before I even got a BFP or possible chemical??

Argh the mind boggles!

I posted in conception forum too, but no one answered so I wondered if any of you pregnant ladies had had a similar experience or had a period and then gone on to be pregnant before the next ovulation/cycle?

Thanks for all the advice X

Hi Wanderlust,

I had heavy implantation bleeding for 5 days, I was convinced it was a chemical pregnancy, as was my GP, however I went on to carry my baby to term and she is now 7 months old. Although its rare, heavy implantation bleeding is possible.

I know someone who bled regularly for the first four months of her first pregnancy ( he's now six)

Just like a normal period.

Fingers crossed for you

Thanks so much ladies, I really appreciate you sharing your experiences too.
It seems our bodies are all so different so it's hard to find answers.

I ended up going to hospital on Saturday and whilst my hcg was pretty low at only 29 at exactly what would be 4wks, they want me back tomorrow, because there are a variety of possible outcomes;

  • ectopic but too small to see yet
  • mid miscarry or about to miscarry (but my bright blue clear blue line this morning rules the mid miscarry part out and whatever kind of bean it is, it's still a growing one)
  • possible sighting of tiny sac in lower uterus, which if it's not on its way out is in a bad place which has a 50/50 chance of miscarrying
  • all of above is crap and it's progressing somewhere that cannot yet be seen.

If it's going to come out though I'd like it to soon as I can't bare a later miscarriage. I've done my share already.

The bleeding was a proper full on clotty normal period though, followed by pink and brown spotting until yesterday.

Crossing my fingers it's a super strong Viking of a bean that will hang on in there just fine!
Thanks again xx

Thank you so much. I'll post how it goes, just in case someone else in time ends up in the same situation and my post helps. Why is you can never find the right one for your exact symptoms!

Hi lovely ladies,
Just to update you that the bloods and scan with the hospital went well today.

The HCG had quadrupled and whilst it's too low to see a proper sac, I'm back there again next Wednesday for another scan and bloods at which point if it's progressing as it should and hopefully in the correct place, I'll know which way this is going because they will be able to see something then by their calculations.

The doctor and a nurse separately told me today that it's not out of the question to have what is practically a full on period at the same time it should arrive and to carry to term.
Whilst they said they couldn't say which way this will go yet, they said to remain positive.

In the meantime I'm just going to try and carry on as normal.

Hope, pray and dance for me and my baby monkey girls Winkx

Thanks Skywalker & Horrace, that's really helpful, thank you. It's good to see the ranges so big.
I'll keep you posted on next weeks bloods and scans again just in case for the record some other girl out there experiences the same thing as me in time x

Hi Wanderlust, just wondering how you're getting on? I'm in a similar situation. Just finished an AF like bleed but not normal, much lighter (although perhaps too heavy for implantation). My periods are all over the place so no idea of CD etc. But had loads of weird CM all through 9 days before AF. Very unusual. Now bleeding is finished, still got CM. Feel bloated, crampy, light headed, nasea etc.
This would be my 4th pregnancy, and unlike the other 3, never had any bleeding before.
Done a hpt and there is possibly a very faint line. Will check again on Weds.

Just wondering if I need to get checked out, or if this can be a normal pregnancy if I do turn out to be pregnant.

Thanks! x

I took lots of tests. This is my 3rd pregnancy, but 2nd child... I lost the first. On all 3 pregnancies, I took a lot of tests, and they came back negative. Only through pushing for blood tests and scans did they confirm my pregnancy. I'm currently, 10+ weeks and still take tests that are negative. It's strange but not uncommon. I also still have regular bleeds, I call periods which again I know is "impossible"... but it does happen. I carried my son to full term, hes now 7, but your body can carry on as normal, with no symptoms of being pregnant except your belly getting bigger... lol. It can and does happen..

@Wanderlust1 what happened with you my love? I know it's an old thread (sorry) but very similar situation to me although I haven't tested. Would be my 7 pregnancy (third child). Full on what I believed to be period 4days early last week back but just feel off and not right still and wondering... know in hearts of hearts it's not really possible but then saw this ...

Hi,

I'm having these weird symptoms too. I'm currently on what seems like a normal period, colour wise, with some clots but it's not as heavy as my periods usually are. But I've got all the symptoms of pregnancy including the stomach churning nausea and lots of gas which I had during my first pregnancy (he's now 14 months.) I didn't bleed this much during my first one though so I'm completely puzzled.

Could I ask what your symptoms are please?

Thank you 😊

Probably a long shot as I can see you haven’t posted in years but how did it turn out? I’ve have similar going on, I’ve not taken a test yet though as I am too scared to be honest. I had a light period a few days early and now about 2/3 weeks later I am extremely tired, eating an extreme amount, really sore and tender boobs, maybe tmi but I seem to have more discharge than my normal. I’m not due another period for 8 days and that’s based on if it comes early again. These symptoms I have aren’t my typical PMS symptoms so I am wondering if there is a chance i could actually be pregnant?
