Pregnacare vs Seven Seas

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to this site.

I'm wanting to take some folic acid and other vitamins to help with the pregnancy before I try to conceive. I've started to take Seven Seas folic acid tablets; however, I've been told by a work colleague that she used pregnacare, which really helped.

Is one better than the other and can I change between them, if I am meant to be taking the tablets for 3 months before I start trying?

Hi Eve, welcome.

You can definitely switch between tablets whenever you want, getting folic acid is the important thing, it doesn't really matter which brand. Maybe finish your Seven Seas tablets then you can decide if you want to move to another?

I use Pregnacare original - I did a load of research when we first started DTD and that came out the best in terms of not giving you an OD of some things, but giving you enough of everything. Some tablets have calcium and iron in which makes me hmm as calcium stops iron being absorbed. Some pregnancy tablets also have vit A in them (a definitely bad idea for PG women) or high doses of vit E (potentially a bad idea for PG women).

Forgot to say - Pregnacare Conception didn't seem worth the extra money. Though I'm still not pregnant, so best not to take my advice too seriously!

I took pregnacare for 6 months, did not work. Then I found seven seas which worked in the first month.

I doubt there's much difference really (thoroughly check the packets against each other in the supermarket if you're concerned/intersted).

I took seven seas conception for 3 months before ttc to ensure my folic was boosted, continued mainly with ss when ttc and have taken ss since pregnant (now 37w smile)

I genuinely doubt brand will have any effect of ttc success! Ss are smaller if u r not a fan of big pills. Most importantly be healthy, hydrated, exercise, don't stress, drink only moderately and have ALL the sex grin those things apply to your dh too of course

Good luck

I think you could be overthinking this. Good luck with ttc smile

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll have to compare them. The hydrating is going to need some working on, as I never drink as much as I need to. I'm sure I'll be frequenting this site more over the next few weeks and months as I navigate my way through it all.

I used the seven sea preconception tablets as I liked the packets with days of the week on them, similar to the contraceptive pill. Seven seas pregnancy tablets made my morning sickness worse and I changed to pregnancycare.

That's one of the positives I find heirhelp that they are labelled with dates.

After plain old folic acid, all the tablets do is make expensive urine!

I'm not sure what is meant by them 'working' - I think the main point is to have your body ready to grow a healthy baby, rather than actually helping to conceive. There's certainly no way that changing a vit tablet would affect you so much in two weeks that you would suddenly conceive..
