Hi my name is Rachel,
I came off my pill (yasmin) on 01/03/16 after over 5 & half years on it. I have a little girl who's 5 & half, it took me me 5 months to pregnant the 1st time but I was 20 & only been on yasman for 4yrs. Does it take longer to fall pregnant 2ND time round? I'm now 26 btw... I did start taking folic acid yesterday as I read that is helpful.

I know I should be due my withdrawal bleed in the next day or two. What I'm not sure on is when I start tracking my cycle is it from the 1st day of withdrawal bleed or the last day?? Then also when would I be likely to ovulate? And how long does ovulation last for? I know this is not an exact science as my cycles may vary and take a few months to settle down, but I am aiming to get pregnant asap- so any tips? (Didn't tracker the 1st time as my o/h was in the navy- so dtd when we had a chance.

Ta in advance- Rachel

I came off the pill last March to TTC DC2. I had my withdrawel bleed as normal, then nothing for 4 months, then wide ranging cycle lengths for a few months before I conceived, so it can take a long while for things to get back to normal.

You count day 1 of your withdrawel bleed as cycle day (CD) 1. When you'll ovulate is anyone's guess, I obviously didn't ovulate for a good while with the length of my first cycle. You could use ovulation prediction sticks or like us you could just DTD as normal and POAS every couple of weeks to see.

How long did you take to conceive if you do not mind me asking?

Hi op, official advice is to let your body settle down for three months so that you know you're ovulating, are having regular periods and know when to time having sex. I don't know who actually does that though! Came off pill in Dec, had withdrawal bleed and two 'normal' periods - both 28 day cycles but incredibly light periods. The 'regular' 28 day cycle is new to me - I have pcos so prior to conceiving ds (also 5yo) was trying for 2 years and cycles were anything from 30 to 45 days in length. No idea how long ovulation lasts - all I know is that when the egg is released there's a 12-24 hour window. If you've had sex 1-4 days before then your chances of conceiving are higher. I guess age plays a role too. I'm 37 so not expecting positive outcome quickly (or indeed at all given my pcos). Actually enjoying ttc more this time as I've gone into it with my eyes open and expectations set accordingly. If I get pregnant then great, if not then it's just not meant to be. Good luck though!

Thank you for your feedback @littlelionmansmummy... I hope you have a positive result soon, guess our body's have a way of surprising us. I'm going to try not to think it and let nature take its course (before I give it a speed up shove)

Thanks for the feedback. Guess the same as everyone I want to conceive right away. But will happend when it happens I suppose. I'm just eagerly awaiting my withdrawal bleed on day 4 now off not taking my pill so should appear something very soon I hope as I just want to start monitoring my cycle now.
