Hi all

So hubby and me have decided to come off depo and try for our first! We have 3 children between us but will be our first together.

Only day 2 after my depo was due and already suffering period pain type tummy ache.

I would love to speak to others who are in the same boat as me.

Good luck as the depo can cause a delay in the return of fertility. Some women can take up to a year to ovulate again so hopefully you aren't one of them. Fingers crossed for you smile

I had my last depo shot January 2015 after about 2 & a half years, got my period back in September 2015 (unsure if ovulating at that time) I started using opks in January this year & had a positive ovulation, also had ultrasound that showed I was ovulating. But have yet to get even the faintest BFP.

The depo shot will be a full year out of my system in April... Hopefully I can get my BFP before then though blush

Good luck, it would be nice to hear a positive story from a post-depo user smile

Thank you. I feel like time isn't on my side as I'm 36 now. I was feeling quite positive that I've already got grumblings in my tummy that make me feel like a period is imminent. I hope I'm right.

Hello, i hope you are right too. How ling were you on it for? Ibwas for about 8yrs. Last jab Sept 2013. First period June 2014. Bfp Dec 2015. So more than to years from jab to conception. I was also 36. Ds is 7mo now and hoping ttc # 2 is quicker!

Nottalotta Thu 03-Mar-16 16:50:40

Clearly got all those dates wrong by a year.....

groundhogday79 Thu 03-Mar-16 17:42:54

I would say I've been on it for 4 years. It's been just over a week since my jab was due and my tummy has only just settled down. I'm expecting the long haul but time isn't on my side. I'm 37 this year and if it takes 12 months to come out of my system I could be 38 by the time I fall.

Nottalotta Thu 03-Mar-16 19:09:37

Hopefully it Will be quicker for you. I had some initial hormone tests after 6 months of no period which were ok but had no idea if i was ovulating once af started. I had my first fertility appointment three days before my Bfp. Had only dtd twice that month on days 8 + 10. So not at all textbook!

Nottalotta Thu 03-Mar-16 19:13:21

Good luck btw. I am hoping to get af back soon and ttc #2.

AskPrayHope Thu 03-Mar-16 19:27:53

Can I ask, was your cycle regular when it did come back?

I'm 25 years & was on it for about 2 years... I just don't want to wait too long for my BFP. If I could go back I would have never ever gone on it sad

groundhogday79 Thu 03-Mar-16 20:02:49

I'm just a tad impatient and at 36 feeling old. hmm

FemaleDilbert Thu 03-Mar-16 20:05:08

I came off depo at xmas a few years ago and was pregnant by March - it doesn't always take a long time

groundhogday79 Thu 03-Mar-16 21:03:11

It's nice to know I'm not alone. I don't want to go down the road of charting and temp taking or else I think I would get a bit obsessed!

Nottalotta Thu 03-Mar-16 22:02:19

ask yes my cycle was incredibly regular. Short at 24 days. I had one 25 and one 27 in two years.

groundhog I too was determined not to get obsessed. I did eventually buy opk but didn't use them still in the bathroom cupboard I did sometimes feel that i wasntt putting enough effort in compared to others on the boards here. I strongly recommend NOT to test early!

AskPrayHope Thu 03-Mar-16 22:55:09

Wow FemaleDilbert I'm envious that you got pregnant that quickly. Wow! Hope for us all yet then!!

Unfortunately groundhogday79 I'm already obsessed & doing OPKs & got an app blush however this is the last month - they say it happens when you don't try, so that's what I'm trying next... We'll see hmm

Nottalotta Fri 04-Mar-16 07:29:03

ask it does indeed. I wasn't too obsessed but was reading on here daily (which fuels it i think) but had given up really when i got my Bfp.

groundhogday79 Fri 04-Mar-16 08:36:57

I agree that looking through forums can fuel the obsession.

AskPrayHope Fri 04-Mar-16 14:03:21

Not buying OPKs or symptom spotting is one thing, but I think I'd find it very hard not to read the forum. It's a good pass-time unfortunately...

Nottalotta Fri 04-Mar-16 18:42:54

Groundhog are you the op? Different name. Anyhoo - af arrived! Cried a lot today, felt like i wasn't coping well. Wondered wtf was going on.....then it all became clear. Hormones.

groundhogday79 Fri 04-Mar-16 19:21:42

Yes I am op, finally worked out how to personalise instead of being random numbers!

Gutted for you lotta. Breaks your heart when you have a positive gut feeling. However just think of the joy when we get the bfp! X

groundhogday79 Fri 04-Mar-16 19:30:15

I'm only a week off my injection so just having af will feel like a bfp! Can't even really say we are ttc yet as you need to ovulate to be able to conceive. sad

Nottalotta Fri 04-Mar-16 19:33:49

Oh no didn't explain myself very well....... Baby had an uncharacteristicly screamy afternoon. I wasn't coping with that well and cried. Then got af which explain ed it. First one since having my son so its a good thing!

groundhogday79 Fri 04-Mar-16 19:38:45

Ah I see. Good cry does us all the world of good.

groundhogday79 Tue 08-Mar-16 08:42:17

Morning all. Now 2 weeks without depo. Had cramps for the first week off but that settled down but woke up this morning with a massive tummy ache, real period pain sort. Hope it comes to something (who would have thought I would have been wishing AF on myself!)

Nottalotta Tue 08-Mar-16 13:40:15

Hi groundhog, well I thought mine was a bit half hearted but it is full on a today. Agree, it's the only time you look forward to it!
