Hi, this may seem like a silly question but my cycles have shortened with age and now I'm in my 40's they are only 25 days. I am nearly 42 and just started ttc. Using opk's and typically get 1st positive on cycle day 15. Does this mean I stand very little chance of conceiving? I've never had problems before but then my cycles were longer when I had my other children.

Hi- are your cycles the same each month? Have you tried tracking you temperatures to see exactly what cycle day you ov on?

Usually OPKs are positive 24-36 hours before ov occurs, so you could ov between cycle day 16 and 17 which gives you an luteal phase of 8-9 days. There is a thread for ladies who have a short lp who can give you more advice.

I know cycles shorten as you get older but sorry I can't be more help on whether it will affect you conception chances.
Good luck TTC

I haven't tried charting but have used the opk's for the last 5 cycles and my cycles are always 25 or 26 days. I am blessed with children so don't want to stress but really would love one more before it's too late! I will check out short leap threads so thanks for that.
