That's just it really.
DH and I are TTC #1
We were in South America in September but that's not my worry.
Although there's a little niggle.

There's mentions in news articles that Zika may spread here over the summer with SA being such a popular destination and pple returning home from their holidays who have contracted the virus.

I can't find ANY definitive or objective advice.

I'm worrying but am I being cautious or ridiculous or realistic?

I think you'll be okay re: your time in SA. I'm pretty sure you'll be okay. I found this:

If you'd like to get pregnant in the more distant future, however, there appears to be no need to worry. Zika virus does not seem to pose a risk of birth defects for future pregnancies. As best researchers can tell, the virus clears itself from the body pretty quickly, remaining in the blood for onlyabout a weekafter infection

With regards to TTC, carry on. It's only sexually transmitted at this point, and seeing as it's only your DH you're having sex with, you'll be fine Grin I'm ttc and I've not thought about it at all.

(Obviously mozzies spread it too but I really don't think you need to worry)

Thank you. I'm also pretty relaxed about having been there.

I guess my bigger issue is TTC and the risk that it spreads here

I know, but I just don't think it's worth putting ttc on hold or anything. Obviously somewhere like SA it's a different story (which is awful for those women) but I think until advice changes, carry on.

The mozzies that carry it can't survive in the uk from what I gather as its too cold for them, so even if people bring it over here it shouldn't be transmissible

Here is a patient information leaflet on Zika virus in pregnancy produced by the UK teratology information service (I work there!). It was updated yesterday so contains all of the most up to date info. Feedback very welcome

Little Peas that is the best (most clear and comprehensive) thing I have managed to read.

All it now needs is something about when it becomes summer here

little peas that's a great link. The media makes it sound very scary. I'm glad I've read the link you provided.
