Single with pcos and wanting to be a mum

I will be 30 next year (18 months away) and desperately want to be a mum before then. I have always wanted to be a mum for as long as I can remember. I am single, have no interest in a relationship and feel I can be a good mum without a partner helping me. I will have massive support from my mum (spoken to her about this) and I have other family who will help and support me.

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. Having never actually tried for a baby, I don't know how this is going to affect me falling pregnant.

I would like to use a sperm donor to get pregnant and have been doing lots of research. I don't think I'm entitled to IVF on the NHS although I haven't been to the doctors to speak to anybody yet.

I presume I will take clomid to aid ovulation. I was period free for 8 months before being diagnosed with PCOS, and then I was put on the pill but after 2 months I stopped taking it. My first post-pill period is due any day now so I don't know if I will get one or not! (I have had the bleeding after coming off the pill)

Has anybody any experience or advice they can share please?

I doubt you would be eligible for NHS IVF but my girlfriend has been looking into becoming a single mother by choice and found a few clinics that would offer free IVF if you did egg donation. The only thing you would pay for is the donor sperm. Basically they harvest your eggs and fertilise one and implant that and the others are donated to women who don't have any of their own eggs left. We're in London though and there a few clinics in town so depending on where you are this may or may not be an option.
