Hi, to anyone reading - help please?

So I got some clear blue opk stick from Amazon (20, because I'm a nutter & want to make sure I'm ovulating so will poas every day!)
Got them today, this is also my last period day but thought 'hey why not!'...

It's just come up with a smiley face.
I am so confused Confused today is then end of my period, I cannot be most fertile now?!? Can I?

Is it me, did I do it wrong? Did I test to late at night? Is it because I'm on? I read the instructions to the letter.

The bad news is DF is still in the city for the next 2 Days for work & I'm at the folks!

Teach me for jumping the gun.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading my essay lol Smile

Hi AskPrayHope. Are you using the dual indicator one? That does seems a bit odd as on the first day you should always get a static circle (even if you are ovulating) as the applicator needs to establish a base first. Also, you should always be testing first thing in the morning not at night. Hmmmm.....maybe it's a faulty applicator?

Hi pj12, thank you for replying Smile

Yes I am using the dual indicator!

When I took the stick out of the applicator there were definitely 2 dark lines so that is confusing.

I was using the cheap amazon ones on my last cycle every day from day cd8 as I wanted to make sure nothing passed me by Blush but there was never any indication of lh surge unfortunately. So I changed to clear blue.

Yesterday was cd6 & I was still spotting, today is cd7 & thought I had finished but BAM! This afternoon STILL spotting.
I'm normally a 5 dayer Confused

Again, any help or thoughts are always good to read - thanks!

Hi
I don't use ovulation monitors but dtd on last day of my period this month and just felt pg straight away (still waiting to know!) at the time I googled to see if it was possible to ovulate at that time and apparently it is, especially if you have a short cycle.
Hope that helps a bit! Smile

Hi nashley,

Ohhh, good luck to you my fingers are crossed! Grin do please update!

We have not dtd that close to the end of my cycle before hoping to save up for ovulation days but I'm starting to think that may (hopefully) be the problem!

Unfortunately now I won't be able to test the theory until my January cycle Sad

Thanks for keeping my hopes up though & again fingers crossed Flowers

I haven't used CB ones, just Amazon cheapies, but it's not uncommon for me to get a near positive while I'm on my period. I usually have an LH surge around then, then my proper surge later in the cycle.

Generally the advice I've seen is not to save up for ovulation days but to keep trying every 2-3 days throughout the first part of your cycle (definitely until a few days after a positive OPK). This is partly because getting the timing right and DTD on demand can be stressful and there's always the risk of missing the dates. But it's also to do with sperm quality. Yes, infrequent sex does lead to an increase in the number of sperm per ejaculation but that's offset by the fact that older sperm has poorer shape and swimming ability. I read somewhere that if you've had a gap of >5 days it can take 2-3 ejaculations to clear out old sperm from the tubes, so if you try to save up for ovulation you can actually damage your chances because you end up getting poorer quality sperm on your peak fertile days. Fingers crossed for this month!
