Any temp pros out there?

Hi there

Are there any regular ‘tempers’ out there that would be able to help me? This is my first cycle temping after a miscarriage of twins in July Sad.

This is what I can gather from this cycle:

CD9/21 Oct: Pre-ovulation dip
CD12/24 Oct: Ovulation day
CD13/25 Oct: Post-ovulation spike
CD21/2 Nov/9DPO: Temp spike
CD22/3 Nov/10DPO: Temp drop

Notes:

  • My cycle is 25 days long;
  • Period is due this Saturday;
  • I had an ovary scan on CD11, the day I had positive OPK, and gynaecologist said I would probably ovulate the next day so post-ovulation spike corresponds with his theory;
  • I did not have 3 consecutive days of high temps after ovulating (???)

    My question is:

    Do you think today’s temp drop indicates period coming? Please don’t hold back and worry about hurting my feelings, I’d rather know!

    Thank you, in advance, for your help Star

It could be, it's hard to say. If your cycle is generally bang on 25 days then I'd think it's perhaps a little early for you to see a drop (my temp would always drop the day AF turned up, but everyone is different of course).

Although if you have recently had a miscarriage (I'm so sorry for you loss Flowers) your cycles might not necessarily be the same as before initially. You may be having a shorter cycle this month and it could be AF. That would only make your luteal phase ~11 days though, which seems quite short - what are they like generally?

Unfortunately with temping, it's often a game of 'wait and see' to get the full picture, so as much as we can speculate on what an individual temperature might mean, it's not really until the cycle is over that you can really see what was going on.

Have you considered trying the Fertility Friend app for temping, instead of Ovia, personally I much preferred it.

Klaptrap Thank you so much for coming back to me.

Yes, it's been a horrible few months to be honest. My cycles pre-pregnancy were 25 days. Since miscarriage they have been 30 days, 27 days, 25 days and now this current cycle.

I guess all I can do is wait and see, as you suggest.

I tried downloading Fertility Friend earlier today but couldn't upload temps retrospectively - or maybe I did it wrong!

Sounds like they are still settling down then if they've been varying each month.

Was there anything different about when you took your temperature yesterday, i.e. was it taken earlier than normal?

I think you'll have a better idea of what is going on tomorrow or in a day or so (i.e. if temp stays down or goes back up) although I know how hard the waiting and wondering is.

I really hope you get some good news soon, you deserve it.

klaptrap come to think of it, I took my temperature at 5am rather than 7am. I needed to go to the loo and worried that getting up and back into bed would affect my temp at 7am! Would this affect it?

The reason I had a scan last month was because my periods have been much heavier since my ERPC. I found out I have fibroids Sad. The gynaecologist said I could have them operated on I've already been under general anaesthetic twice this year (the ERPC plus I tore my AC ligament in my knee in April). 2015 hasn't been my year!

The waiting is making me go a bit nuts - I really wish I was the kind of person who could accept that nature will take its own course but I can't seem to control how anxious TTC is making me.

Ok- I'm not saying I'm an expert but I have been temping for a year so feel like I have a good grasp of it now. I would say you ov'ed on CD15 going by your chart! That means that the dip you see today CD22 is a possible implantation dip.

I might be wrong but that's how I would interrupt it based on a sustained temp rise.

If I were you, I would put the temps into Fertility Friend app and see if it confirms ov- I think it will! Let me know how you get on!

My prediction would also coincide with a 10 day LP but seeing as your cycles are a little irregular you may find you don't get AF until CD27-28 this cycle.

RoseBud2015 thank you for your message. I input all the data I had in Ovia over to Fertility Friend (finally worked it out!) and here is my chart: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/60658b. It also predicts that I ovulated on CD12 and that my period is either due tomorrow (short cycle) or on Saturday. I guess all I can do is wait and see what happens with my temperature tomorrow.

I didn't take in the bit about the pos opk on CD11! OK that sounds right then. In that case I would say the temp drop is AF coming! But it is still possible that it will go up again tomoz. Its on the coverline so could go either way. Good luck! X

My temperature went up on Thursday and this morning but I had a BNF yesterday (12 dpo) and a tiny bit of brown spotting today:

Hi Turi

It looks like your AF is on the way Sad Same as mine: //www.fertilityfriend.com/home/5790c0 My temp never really got very high this cycle in comparison to last cycle (or yours!) but that drop to the cover-line pretty much spells game over to me! I have been struggling with the heartache of POAS recently so I'm glad I didn't bother this cycle.

How are you feeling? Have you got pre-AF cramps like me? Are you TTC#1? x

Hi RoseBud

Sorry to hear you think AF is on the day - TTC sucks doesn't it?

Yes, AF started this morning. Bang on 25 days - at least my cycle is regular.
It is very light which is strange as it was incredibly heavy last month - so much so I thought I was having another miscarriage and the Dr sent me to a private gynacologist who diagnosed fibroids.

Yes, I am trying to conceive number 1. How about you?

Sorry to hear AF arrived Sad At least you are now out of limbo and onto the next cycle! How are you feeling today?

My AF hasn't shown up yet and all my usual pre-AF symptoms have disappeared Confused Like you the other day, my temp shot up today way above the control line! So I think my body is playing very mean tricks with me!

Yes I'm TTC#1 too! 15 months and counting.....it's becoming more than a little dull now! I'm so sorry to hear about your twin mc- I cannot even begin to imagine what you have been through Flowers

Hi RoseBud2015*

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your kind thoughts. I've found out I have to have a fibroid removed so TTC is on-hold for the time being. This really hasn't been a good year for me!

I hope you have some good news soon.
