I'm a bit jaded. I no longer symptom spot and it feels all a bit futile, but reading about all of you recent pregnant threaders gives me a glimmer of hope. Wishing you a lovely baby a the end of this nervous wait.

Hi Reni I'm also a bit jaded.

TTC#1 since July 2012. 42yrs. DH 45yrs. 4mc's. Trying naturally for a few more months before giving up.

Sorry to hear of those who are jaded, it really is hard going all this Ttc and each MC takes abit more out of you. There is still hope, it's very heartwarming to hear of the pg threaders on here. I'm not sure how I feel about DE, or at what point I should give up on my own eggs but I'm going to give it awhile longer and my best shot.

Hi everyone - I am still here and not pregnant yet. I am 40 ttc#1 since March 2014. DH is 41 - neither of us have any DC.

Have not been doing too well the last few months but am feeling way more positive now and do is DH so fingers crossed. Am CD 11 today so getting ready for lots of action and then into my first proper tww for about 5 months.

I have found this thread really helpful and supportive- I've been lurking more than posting - so sorry about that but I wish everyone the best and fingers crossed for BFPs for us all soon.

I'm a success story and hope this gives you all hope.

I got married at 32 and started TTC straight away. Nothing happened. Had lots of tests, everything fine. Was about to start private IVF and fell pregnant naturally - I was 37 and had been TTC for 5 years. I now have a 3.4 year old boy.

18 months later I fell pregnant again. Sadly I miscarried at 10 weeks.

8 months after that I fell pregnant again. Now 30 weeks pregnant with a girl. I'm 40 and will be 41 when she's born.

It felt like it would never happen for us. Those first five years were absolute hell, but against the odds we are now completing our family - about 8 years later than we would've liked but beggers can't be choosers!

I have everything crossed that all of you get your BFPs soon x

That's great to hear GoooRooo, wonderful that you got there in the end. :)

I'm 40, DP 45, DS1 4. DS2 died at 5 months old. 2 MC.

Starting the SMEP thing today, so feeling positive about a new month!

Marking my place on the new thread!

I'm 43, 1 DS (4 yrs), 4 MC, now 16 weeks pg and all looking fine so far.
We considered both DE and adoption after my last mc, but didn't feel comfortable with either in the end.
I am desperately hoping that this pg will end with a baby, as either way, it will be my last attempt!

Hello everyone

I'm 40 years old and currently 19 weeks pregnant with DC3. I have DS1 10 and DS2 7. Everything seems OK so far.

I was trying since last August. Miscarried in November at 6 weeks. Fell pregnant again in March. Found out 3 days after my 40th birthday.

Congratulations Cloud and Grizzer! I'm so glad to see that things are progressing well with you both.

All the success stories give me a little bit of hope, so thank you.

I'm 42 now. Took over 5 years to get pregnant with ds who is now 7. Have been ttc number 2 on and off for the last couple of years.

I've just had a phone call from the screening office about my Down's blood test. She said it was negative but was 1:103 and the cut off is 1:100 so very close. She recommends an amnio.
What are your thoughts ladies? I argued that if the cut off is 1:100 I'm outside that & you can't start stretching it as that defeats the point of a cut off. At 42, my results aren't that surprising really. I don't want invasive testing but I also would rather know for sure so I can be prepared. I don't think those are bad odds & with a decent nuchal fold result I'm sure it's ok.
The chance of mc during amnio is higher than the risk of down's.
What would you do?

Grizzer I decided not to have testing beyond the blood tests and to continue the pregnancy even if it was a very high risk of downs.

If I were to chose a test though, I probably would have gone for a Harmony rather than an amnio although I appreciate they are expensive.

Report
reni1 · 20/07/2015 16:27

Grizzer, I think I would not go for amnio for Down's but might if Edwards' was suspected. This is of course from the standpoint of somebody not pregnant at the moment..

Report
cloudjumper · 20/07/2015 16:28

grizzer I would do the Harmony test - non-invasive, but much more accurate than the combined blood screening (although it will still be a risk, not a diagnostic result). You might have to pay for it, though. And it will mean another 2-week wait for the results.

Did they give you your individual blood results, ie. beta -HcG and Papp-A, to see which one is bringing up the risk? Remember that your age-related risk alone will be around the 1:50 mark.
Hope you're OK xx
