Progesterone fanjo bullets and sex

To those who have taken these, can you have sex before or after popping them in?
I am supposed to start taking them tomorrow according to the doctor's instructions, one in the morning and one in the evening. But we still need to DTD tomorrow morning or evening (as I'm probably icing early tomorrow morning), and then again Saturday too just for good measure. Hmm Saturday isn't really a problem as we can make time midday to DTD, but tomorrow is a week day and we only really have before or after work to get uhm busy. Which is when I need to be pushing them bullets in. Blush
How long did you wait after inserting them to have sex, or wait after sex before inserting them? Or am I being completely stupid and it really doesn't matter at all?

Can you pop them in the back door instead? I'm just finishing a course after IVF and have been back-dooring to avoid the mess.

I guess I could. Doc was very clear that I should get them as close to touching the cervix as possible. My LP is only 6-7 days so I'm keen to make sure that it works. Hmm
There's a mess? Shock

I'd shag then insert!

Mine are Cyclogest; not sure if you're on the same or a different brand. I've not used them at the same point in the cycle, so maybe if they need to be right near your cervix, then the back door might not be an option.

With mine, they said to pop it in (the front) then lie down for 15 minutes. Presumably that's so the important bits could be absorbed. So I'd guess after 15 minutes you'd be free to get on with things.

As for the mess; it's just because the progesterone's in this oily pellet, and sometimes you get the oil residue sort of trickling out (such glamour!) I don't have experience of having sex whilst using the pessaries, so don't know for definite. Sorry!

Grin gin
Thanks blue, makes sense re the IVF you mentioned. Mine are called U-something or another. I haven't checked since I filled the prescription. To be fair, perhaps I should read the instructions included before asking on here. Hah! I'll however now be prepared for oiliness. What fab stuff. Hmm

Hello. I am on progesterone (cyclogest) 400mg twice a day and I have put them in after sex otherwise it could be messy.

Thanks badger. I think I might so that.

Mine went in afterwards, although they do make a mess so it was slightly off-putting in the general area. Mine were Cyclogest which are wax. Wax goes in, wax melts, wax comes out. Wax destroys knickers, wax stains trousers, wax eats through panty liners... It's all very glam! But I've just finished 3 months of it and its completely fine and totally worth it overall.

A lot of people have said using as a suppository is better, no mess, but my clinic said pessary only...

cheesy congrats on the three months. Sounds miserable Grin. If by some miracle this works and I fall pregnant this cycle I'll be on three months of them too the doctor said. Thanks for the heads up on all the staining. I'll definitely stock up on panty liners and try to time things around not staining my trousers or dripping wax across the office floor.

Cheesypop did you need the progesterone to conceive ? I'm taking them for my stupidly low levels at day 21,even though having been tracking follicles I ovulate on my own. It's just so frustrating, then if I ever do get BFP I'll need to stay on them.

No, mine were prescribed as part of my Frozen Embryo Transfer, together with eostrogen. The drugs they give you suppress your system so you need to help until everything kicks back in again. It seems to have worked anyway as I'll be 10w on Saturday! Smile

With my fresh cycle of ivf I was prescribed something different, a progesterone gel, and that was less messy, but I think a lower strength. For major issues people can be prescribed progesterone injections which are oil-based and go into the bottom... Probably the worst option!

Just one thing, be warned progesterone can do funny things to your digestion although it settled back down again.

Thanks Cheesy. Started this morning and it turns out mine are not made of wax but are gel capsules. Brief spell of nausea which I guess might have been breakfast rather than the progesterone doing something almost immediately? DTD about half an hour after inserting so I'm not sure yet if there is any uh-mm-m dripping post-insertion as there was jizz involved today Blush. Will keep the panty liners handy for tomorrow! Grin

Cheesypop it looks like i might need the bum shots- had a little spotting at 6dpo - yesterday. This is with 800mg of cyclogest. Feel so depressed. I didn't get any spotting with a lower dose though so I just don't understand what is going on with me

Bless you OP but I highly doubt it. This is what I always got before taking the progesterone so I am well used to it. For some reason my body has decided not to absorb it this month. I'm at a wedding today getting hammered instead to console myself. I might as well give up now. I don't think they can do anything else now for me on the NHS as I already have a DD. how are you getting on with "fanjo bullets" ?

Top up on large panty liners and sit/lie down as soon as you've inserted them.

mrs actually alright. The gel capsules seem to dissolve completely though hopefully aren't clogging up my uterus so I've not had any staining at all. I've been lying down for about ten minutes after insertion. That's the good news. The bad news is that my taste has gone completely off and everything tastes salty or weird for the last two days (I'm only 2dpo anyway so it definitely isn't any other sort of symptom) and am a bit nauseous. And I've had really consistent pains and dull cramping in my uterus which is very Unusual for me at this stage so can only be the progesterone I think. Sad

Hope you don't mind me commenting but i am reading this post with alot of interest, I have been referred to fertility specialist as we have been trying for over a year and suffer with spotting for upto five days before Af is due, I have a feeling is due to low progesterone and I am hoping that i am prescribed progesterone when i go to the clinic, it is great to read how you are all getting on and side effects as if i have to take it then i am aware of what to expect, I hope you all lovely ladies get your bfp very soon!!

I was prescribed them at 20 weeks pg. It was discovered I had a short cervix (2.71cm) - nothing major and an established reason why. After 6 weeks or was measured at 3.84cm. I was astonished. Didn't realise things like a cervix could grow back??? Confused

How're you getting on with those 'fanjo bullets'? You were right last weekend btw. Got BFP on Friday. Can't believe it and don't feel excited just anxious!

Oh mrs that's fantastic news. I clearly have magical implantation prediction powers
In related news I got a BFP yesterday at 10dpo! I am ecstatic about it. Grin I so-oo-oo lo-o-o-ove progesterone fanjo bullets now. I want to frame them for the museum, and treat them to a holiday in the caribbean. I want to marry them.
I'll stop now.

Yippee!!! We're practically in sync! Shall we start a fanjo bulletins fan club? They really are the business! Now, if only my gp had prescribed them 18 months ago when I'd told her about my short LP ... Anyway never mind! We are up the duff! I have peed on 6 sticks since Friday and probably will everyday until 12 weeks as I don't quite believe I am. Do you have any symptoms?

Fanjo bullets. Not bulletins. Clearly.

Fanjo bulletins are good though. Updates. Very necessary.
Exactly what you said about the GP prescribing it earlier. 18 months is a long time though (I figured out in February what needed to be done, and first asked about it in the very beginning March. Hah!) but you're right, it's done now! When's your edd? I've been booked in for a 10 week early scan. :) Still so loo-ooo-ooong to wait. Considering I was only supposed to test on Friday Blush
No symptoms. I've had an awful headache yesterday and today but it is probably something else. Still popping them bullets religiously! You?

Still popping them in, religiously. Yes time going very slowly here too. I've not been to Dr yet. Have to get the fertility nurse to write to gp so that she will prescribe me some progesterone. So appt booked for next week. I wonder if I'll get early scan? On what grounds are they offering it to you? Just because of the cyclogest? No real symptoms just sore boobs. God I wish I could be at twelve weeks already.
