scared TTC after ectopic

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had experience of trying again after an ectopic? I found out I was pregnant on my 40 th birthday, only 3rd month of trying (with the CBAFM amazing) but 2 weeks in was cramping and bleeding and turned out to be right tube ectopic. I was lucky, I didn't have to have an operation so have kept the tube, but had to have 2 courses of drug treatment to deal with it, which meant we couldn't try again for 6 months.

My AF is due on Monday which means this is the cycle we can start ttc but i'm scared to death of the same thing happening again, and at the same time feel under pressure from myself to make up for lost time, all i can think is i'm 40 need to do this now!! Has anyone had repeat ectopics? Hospital said they'd only do tests to see if tubes permanently blocked etc if it re-occurs.

I know i should just chill out and relax as the stress isn't good for TTC but as with everything in this process its easier said than done.

Thanks for any help....

My mum and sister have both had ectopics. My mum had one with her first pregnancy, lost a tube and went on to have 4 successful pregnancies with no reoccurrence. My sister had one with her first pregnancy, lost a tube and went on to have two successful pregnancies with no reoccurrence.
(I'm currently 8 weeks into my first pregnancy )

Anyway there's no reason to think it will definitely happen again, you'll probably be fine. If it does you'll know exactly the symptoms to look out for and will get it sorted straight away. I'm sure you'll be fine. Thanks

EveningCocco.

My first pregnancy was ectopic, surgically removed.
Since then I have had two successful pregnancies, both conceived easily. Yes, those couple of weeks from getting a positive test to an early scan ( try to get scanned at 6 weeks, round here it was default referal for any pregnancy post ectopic here), were very instant knicker watch, but I have been OK.

Have you found the ectopic pregnancy trust forum? It is a brilliant resource.

Good luck.

thanks for your re-assurance, its good to hear that things can still be normal after an ectopic. I've been told that as soon as i get pregnant i'm to be referred to the EPU for scan/checks etc so will at least have some back up there. I suppose its because its all out of my control and man do i hate that! control freak that i am!

Oysterbabe, congrats on being 8 weeks, i know what you mean about the worry, but keep everything crossed all goes well.

addictedtosugar, is the the ectopic pregnancy trust forum on here or a totally different website?

x
