Is it true that a positive ovulation test will show a positive result if you're pregnant?

Without meaning to drip feed - I took a test earlier, dunno why really, it was impulsive. Two lines have shown up.
I know when my fertile window was and tested positive during that time. Then after which I tested negative from the days after. Until now. I'm wondering. I'm confused. I'm hoping.

The test line was really, really dark, a lot darker than the control. You do get a little lh surge around the time your period is due and I've had lines on opks then but they were lighter than the control. Get yourself a pregnancy test to be sure.

I have a clear blue test that I'll use tomorrow. It's not the digital but a clear blue plus.
All manner of things are running a mock through my mind, gah!

If AF isn't due for a week it's probably too early to test. Most say wait until a minimum of 4 days before.

Yes this happened to me!

We had been ttc for 18 months and that month I'd given up hope so didn't have any pregnancy tests in. I realised I was 3 days late so did an ovulation test thinking it would put the daft idea out of my mind and it came up really dark, went and got a clearblue and it came up 3+ weeks!

Sorry FrankSpencer but that opk picture you posted is not a positive result, and means nothing in terms of pregnancy or not. You get LH surges during the time after ovulation before af arrives.

There are plenty of websites that explain how using opk's during the 2ww is a waste of time, this website peestickparadise.com/opk_as_hpt.html is one.

The opk would have to be glaringly positive and you would get a positive hpt before this point. I have been burnt in the past with getting very close to positive just before af, only for af to arrive. A surge in LH occurs just before AF so an increase in darkness of the test line then can tell you nothing about if pregnant or not. Sorry!

If you are impatient, buy loads of cheap pregnancy tests, and obsess with those instead, would be my suggestion!!!!! (it's what I do!)

Yes I had positive opks when I was pregnant, before AF was due, but they were much darker than yours. I wouldn't say that looked positive. They are only positive if the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. Sorry. Hope you get your BFP soon.

I tested again today. The line looks a little darker than previously. I can't wait to test properly in a day or two.

Mine happened like this with ovulation tests. I don't know why on earth I took one, but it was a faint line. Took a pregnancy test the next day with was a bfn, but did an ovulation one and line got darker. Did that over 2 more days and pregnancy test still negative, ovulation test getting darker. Then the next day I finally got a faint positive on the pregnancy test, which got darker again the next day.

Fingers crossed for you op! I guess it is just a waiting game for you now.

I read this once too... I had an enormous LH surge one night... then AF arrived the following day. I really hope that isn't the case for you though. Fingers crossed!

Oh what a shame, Chandelier. I'm still 3 - 4days until AF though. Do you only have the LH surge in the 24 ish hours beforehand of the period, or does it build up days before I wonder.

Frank I am experiencing the same as you. Usually on day 15/16 and opk confirmed that but a couple of other symptoms appeared day 17 so I did another opk and that was positive. Now on day 23 and still positive! This is today's!

How disappointing! Ttc really messes with you hey? maybe go to your gp as AF is so late? Were your positive opks always very dark lines?

I didn't have a HPT on hand but had a leftover Clearblue OPK lying around - it came up positive. Had a positive HPT later the same day.

Yep just like the pic above my post, I'm waiting on HCG bloods from Drs. I only ever got a very faint positive with my DS and not until I was 6 weeks preg so who knows.
