Positive at 6dpo?! Is that even possible?

Hello all,

I did a frer test this morning, as well as a superdrug one last night, and both have a line. Faint, but still a line and it appeared before the 3 minutes were up.

I've been using the dual hormone Clear Blue tests so I know I had 'high fertility' from 4th-7th May, then 'peak' on 8th May. Assuming I then ovulated between 24 and 36 hours after that, that makes today 6dpo.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

I had a positive at 8 dpo, it was faint but definitely a positive. I then used a digital I think 2 days later to confirm for sure. That looks like a positive to me! Best of luck!

Ditto Tinykitchen!

Tested a week before af was due and got a BFP with a middle of the day test. My twins are nearly 5.

Congrats on the BFP Juniper44!

Shock twins? Eep. Dd will only be 2.3! Argh. Triple buggy??

I like the idea of twins, but the realities are very scary!

I reckon you've ovulated much earlier, that's such a strong line! or multiples

I had this last month 6/7 DPO, I was shocked too.

Congratulations

I'm pretty sure I didn't ovulate at all in April. No physical signs and I started using opk on day 12. Then, I had a weird bleed on day 24 (30th April) which was lighter than a period but didn't seem like implantation or ovulation bleeding.

Physical signs of ovulation kicked in on day 4 (!) and so I started doing opk again.

Based on my last 'normal' period, this would be day 41, but that doesn't explain the peaks last week or the bleed! And I've been using opk pretty much every day for the last month, so would have noticed a peak I think??

Wait 3/4 weeks. . Then call mw and say you don't know how far along you are- tell them you had light and unpredictable periods and they'll scan you pretty quick to date you. Just my advice ;)

Hi Juniper. Your line looks exactly like my test from this morning! I 'think' I'm 2 days late but my cycles have been all over the place recently. I'm going to wait and test again on Sunday and hope for a darker line! Tentative congratulations for us both!

Goodo.

Yeah, I did a CB and it says 1-2 weeks, so I reckon that bleed was ovulation.

Saw my GP this morning and she's booked me for a scan next week as they wont refer me to the midwives until my dates are clearer.

I took mine around the same time last pregnancy, I took a clear blue and it was a faint positive but I was pregnant with identical twin girls so my HCG was higher then normal and that's why it detected so early

Hi all!

im ttc for the first time. Been trying for 6 months.

this time round I used the clear blue ovulation sticks rather than the cheapy sticks and it’s become clear that I ovulate quite late in my cycle.

does anyone else ovulate around day 20 of their cycle? If so when did you find out you were pregnant? I’m 33 so concerned that late ovulation makes things harder?

thanks

@amfo89 might be worth starting your own thread for this question - this one looks pretty old (also really curious if @Juniper44 had twins?!)

I have ovulated on day 19 before - I don't think it affects fertility, just means you fit fewer cycles in than someone who ovulates earlier. I'd expect a 34 day cycle for you is that right? Only proviso might be if your luteal phase is shorter which could be a bit of an issue from my understanding. So if you ovulate late but your cycle is still 28 days it might be something to have checked.

@SnookyPook sorry thought I was posting a new post didn’t realise I wrote on an old one, thanks for letting me know.

im still trying to get to grips with how long my cycles are. I always thought they were 28 days, but I think on ovassion I have mistake the start of my period as spotting as it’s so light, and also struggle to pin point exactly when it ends.

I will keep trying to monitor more closely and if it’s looking like a short luteal phase il speak to my doctor.

thanks for the advice

Ha ha, no- just the one. She turned 7 a few weeks ago so yeah, this is quite an old post!

Turns out the Clearblue ovulation tests (at £50 a packet) actually missed my ovulation but picked up my positive pregnancy instead, hence why I tested positive at what I thought was 6dpo.

it was actually very stressful as the ultrasound showed a sac but no heartbeat, which meant I was either too early to be scanned or I’d lost the pregnancy again.

I was not impressed with those ovulation tests!
