Hi all,

Am TTC#1 after being after being on cerelle (was called cerazette) pill for approx 4/5 years, just wondering how quickly AF arrived for anyone else on this and also how quickly people conceived?...

Also, it is poss to fall before AF arrives?

TIA smile

Yes it is possible to convince before AF becuase your egg is released and then two weeks later you have AF, unless it is already fertilised.

AF for me came 28 days after I stopped talking the pill mentioned above. We used alternative contraception for 3 months, but then DH was poorly so we missed first ovulation window then convinced the first of DTD without the pill.

Unfortunately I had a miscarriage so I am back on these boards again.

I know of people including friend with pcos who have concieved in the first month and friends who is has taken years for no medical reason.

Good luck. Don't forget your folic acid.

Thank you for your reply, that makes sense.

We spend so long trying not to get pregnant as young women and then it's a whole different world when you do want too!

Am taking the folic acid and learning/tracking ovulation etc so fingers crossed. Trying to get my head around when you can/can't fall and all that jazz.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, hope you are ok and good luck smile

Thanks pickle.

I really think the trick is to not get not too focused on it. Use the online ovulation calucatltion and add a few days each side and make sure you DTD at least every other in that time. Some research suggests every other day is best for conception. Just think of it as honeymoon time again.

I agree, been talking about it for a year or so and off the pill a couple of weeks and can easily see how we can become too focused and worried etc. Am definietly going to try and just 'see what happens' rather than plan exact days etc. just DTD lots ;)

One last questions (if you don't mind!) how soon after DTD after a positive ovaluation kit would it show a positive on pregnancy test? AF was never 100% regular before the pill because was very sporty (and still am) so don't think i'll be able to 100% rely on a regular cycle to work it all out?

Hello, I was on Cerelle (known as Cerazette at the time) for 7 years without periods. I came off Cerazette in July, had my first AF in September, and another exactly 28 days later (which was very rare for me)

I fell pregnant on my 3rd cycle (November) and am now 30+4

I know a lot of people have said bad things about Cerazette but I really believe it helped me. I had severe PCOS before taking Cerazette - it took me 18 months to conceive my first DC and 4 years with my second.

When I had my 8 week pregnancy scan the sonographer noted that I now only have one cyst whilst years previously my left ovary was completely cystic and larger.

Number3cometome Thank you for your reply, doctor said to expect 4-6 weeks minimum so will wait and see! I had one or two small AF during the 4/5 years i was on it and that was it so have no idea of my cycle! and they were quite irregular before that.

Good to read some other experiences, is helping me be a bit more realistic!

Glad you had a positive experience, was the only one that worked for me too after trying a number of different pills for acne and PMT issues! Certainly intend to go back on it after (hopefully!) DC #1

Good luck your #3 x

Pickle
Thanks! It's actually the only contraception I can use as I have essential hypertension caused by eclampsia, I am on beta blockers. Anything else is a stroke risk for me.

I hated it at first, random spotting, but once it settled I loved it! It also helped my serious rages and hormonal outbursts I used to get!

I did find my skin went bad for a couple of months and had a bit of hair loss, but that soon resolved itself, I was very teary and emotional too, but battle through that!

I was worrying when period would arrive, but it did after about 8 weeks. I felt like it was going to come from about 4 weeks and was getting frustrated but clearly just my body adjusting.

Thank you! I feel very lucky to have fallen so quickly and am very much looking forward to meeting him in July smile x

pickle80 Thu 14-May-15 13:33:58

The spotting was horrible but all settled for me after 5/6 weeks i think?..

ah yes the hormones, they are back now i'm off it! Bit of a shock to my body i think now i'm off it and it's all adjusting! hoping it won't take much longer than 8 weeks or so, so i know when the cycles are etc.

Awww, so exciting smile here's to hoping i'll be joining you some point in the next couple of months! x

It took me 8 months, came off of it in July and conceived in Feb, I had regular periods since I came off of it, now 14 weeks pregnant! Good luck smile

Oh should of added, I was on it and cerazette for 4/5 years.

congrats smile and thank you for sharing!.. fingers crossed x

Most people suggest you should wait until 2 weeks after ovulating to reduce the chances of a false negative. If your periods are irregular and then your ovulation is probably irregular too.

Number3cometome Fri 15-May-15 09:07:11

There is no false positives with Cerelle, it doesn't contain HCG.

It's safe to start TTC immediately after stopping Cerelle.

Thank you all for your advice smile

Symptoms question! I have the below symptoms which are driving me crazy, I believe they could either be for AF or pregnancy or just my body adjusting? (I haven't had a proper AF for a while but swear it was never this bad!)

- random waves of nausea at odd things (chicken soup, lemsip, spaghetti bolognese) no particular time or reason?
- womb/lower region ache - for the past 2/3 days particularly... like really ache, made me stop in my tracks... and random prickly pains
- back ache - very lower back, no other reason for it
- sensitive bobs, not hurting just uber sensitive - anything brushing past, I can feel everything
- bloated, looks like I've swallowed a small balloon

We've DTD 3 times since coming off pill 2 weeks ago, once day after and twice approx a week later (about a week ago)

Any ideas? I'm thinking just AF on way but never remember the symptoms being like this??

TIA x

Number3cometome Fri 15-May-15 09:26:51

pickle I had lots of pregnancy symptoms, none of which were actually pregnancy, BUT I would still get a Superdrug test and test anyway x

pickle80 Fri 15-May-15 09:29:08

I'm tempted but would it be too early? Thinking I might just do one a week, same time each week?.. as no AF at the mo, so no idea of cycle x

Hi pickle

I was on Cerazette for 5 years and Cerelle for 1 year before i came of to TTC#1

i cam off the pill in Janaury this year and my first AF did not turn up until March, no spotting, no withdrawal bleed or anything.

Hope this helps x

Number3cometome Fri 15-May-15 10:29:28

Pickle i'd just do a test as reassurance anyway (because if you are pregnant, you don't want to miss the dates for an NT scan by finding out late)

It won't hurt to do a cheap test once a week until AF arrives (or not!) just don't get your hopes up and be disappointed if you are not getting a BFP x

pickle80 Fri 15-May-15 11:09:10

Think I will do one just for peace of mind, don't think it will be a bfp, hoping AF will come soon if that's what these symptoms are otherwise my body is just playing tricks on me!

Would obviously be over the moon if bfp but not upset if not as can't believe it would happen this quick..

Good luck to everyone else ttc, thank you for your comments smile x

Mostlyjustaluker Fri 15-May-15 12:21:44

Please post back with the result. If your AF is very irregular I would be tempted to buy loads of cheap internet tests and do a test the same day every week.

pickle80 Fri 15-May-15 14:23:19

Have brought a test and will do over the weekend as it says to use first wee in the morning, am doing ovulation tests everyday to figure out what's going on smile

Hey I stopped taking cerelle end of February after a year. Prior to that I had the implant for 5 years and cerazette for 2-3 years. Had my initial withdrawal bleed followed by a normal period 33 days later. Next cycle was 28 and this one is looking to be 27 (or hopefully 9 months! Haha!) I've been typing and OPKs to get to know my body and make sure it was back to normal. Good luck!

Belle888 Wed 27-May-15 21:24:48

Hi pickle80 I'm in a similar situation to you and have just come off the pill. Did you start doing ovulation tests straight away or do you have to wait for your first AF? Sorry I'm so new to this too and have no idea where to start! confused xx
