Hi all! I'm new here, just joined because my boyfriend and I have decided to begin trying for a baby! He really wants us to start our family so the family (grandparents and such) will be able to get to see our first child
I'm worried about this though, because I'm quite overweight, I'm at least 20st and because this is my first, I'm looking for tips and such but it's scared me reading about overweight women getting pregnant! Any success stories?

Thank you Xmas Smile

Also, is it normal to have tender breasts after not taking the mini pill for about a month? Had a bit of cramping, which I don't want to get my hopes up about, I could have sworn AF was going to appear when I was cramping, I'm usually spot on when I think AF is about to appear. Also these bloody emotions, how normal is it to laugh like mad, cry, get down and then want to try for a baby, all within 20 minutes? Grin any help will be greatly appreciated, I'm new to this and I've nobody I can talk to about it!

I don't really have any tips, just to say that I too am overweight; was just over 18 stone at last weigh in which, despite being 5'11" and a large build (size 9 feet) still puts me in the 'morbidly obese' BMI category (thanks then Hmm) and we conceived within 2 months of my coming off the Pill. I'm also 36 so thought the odds were stacked against me! I had started dieting / gym to lose weight before conceiving (I had previously lost 3 stone for my wedding but piled it all back on since) but it happened so much more quickly than we expected, I'd hardly lost anything! Everyone is different. Do you have any weight-related health issues? If not, you'll be fine!

wow that's great to hear! what symptoms did you have when you came off the pill?
I don't have any weight related issues either :') thank you so much, you've really put my mind at ease! xx

To be honest, none really...and I'm almost 8 wks pregnant now and STILL having no symptoms...I'm hoping that I'm just hardcore (!) and that things haven't gone wrong...Confused

I'm sure everything's fine :) there are some women that never have symptoms!
Was just asking because my body is going rife! Major sore boobs, my moods are mad, crying one minute, laughing the next and then wanting to go make a baby! And the cramps, oh they're awful. I could have sworn AF was going to appear last week because of them, but nope! Bloody contraception! Haha
So happy for you being pregnant Flowers

When I conceived my first I was 16 stone. I'm quite short so that was very obese. It took me 7 months of trying to get pg. I had a pretty straightforward pregnancy but some things were complicated by my obesity. E.g., it was more difficult to get a clear scan image at both my scans. My blood pressure was also a concern throughout and my midwife insisted I be tested for GD (which I didn't have).

But everything went well. I also really made an effort to look after myself when i was pg and was lighter at 9 months pg than i was whe i concieved! I had a very straightforward labour and birth when it came to it as well.

That's fantastic to hear! Grin
I'm hoping it won't take us too long to conceive, we really want a baby!
Did you have raised blood pressure before you were PG? I've got really low blood pressure so I'm hoping it won't turn in to a complication!
Glad the labour and birth went well too :) the thought of all of it scares the hell out of me haha but needs must!

I was 'overweight' when I conceived DC1 and 'obese' when I conceived the DTs. I'm slightly further into the 'obese' category now unfortunately and we are TTC DC4. cycle 1 and on the TWW atm but feeling positive. my cycles seem to imply I'm as fertile as I was at lower weights and I'm actually hoping for morning sickness again to loose some weight

my blood pressure was 120/70 throughout both pregnancies and no issues with ketones in urine at any point.

16.5 stone me is in the same boat rachel I'm worried to bits that my weight is behind the reason we haven't conceived yet - we started ttc end of August.

Hoping it is just because my body is still adjusting to being pill-free.

Fx that you see a BFP soon x

Ok so obviously being pregnant whilst overweight isn't ideal etc Etc and trying to lose some weight whilst TTC would be a fab idea.....

My BMI was 40 when I conceived Ds on month 6, I was 24. My pregnancy was awful because of hyperemesis but I didn't have high BP or anything - usually 110/70. Had him naturally although had to be induced 12 days oD.

With dd my BMI was much much higher unfortunately Hmm however the pregnancy was relatively easy going - I did have high BP but only in the last week. I also had a haemorrhage post partum but don't know if that's weight related. I conceived her in 8th month I think and I was 27/28.

Good luck

Thank you. The one thing I would advise is that while trying to concieve and trying to lose weight try not to obsess cz the stress can have effects on cycles and such. I hope you get you bfp soon along with everyone else. :)

I've not had a proper period in 6 years because of the pill Envy so I'm hoping it won't take too long before things return to normal. this nausea is killing me and the only thing that makes it die down is eating unhealthy things (tonight I had to have ice cream and last night was a yule log... Not good if you're my size! Shock )
yessss!

I have never been on the pill so I don't know what its like lol but if they don't regulate speak to gp. I'm trying to lose weight as well so we can motivate each other. I found out my sisters pregnant today and she's heavy so its a gd sign for us and she was on the pill when she conceived xxx

I've been in the middle of moving house (which is why I ran out of the pill in the first place, haha)
We can! I'm planning on dusting off the wii and getting it set up in the living room for when OH is in bed (he does nightshift so I've got all day to myself)
That's a good sign for us indeed! I'm really hoping you get some good news soon, got my fingers crossed for you xx
