Ok so I feel a bit silly posting this in a way but I can't be the only one who reads this board but can't really post yet.
I've been with my DP for nearly two years, i am late 20s I have a ten year old from previous relationship and DP has grown up children. I have been broody since my 10yo was born and only now do I feel truly ready to have another.
Myself and DP have a holiday booked in 6 months and we both kind of know we can't TTC til then at the earliest, we've not bad a proper holiday together yet and I want to drink lots and look good in a bikini really enjoy it, I am so excited about idea of having a new little person its ridiculous Blush
All my friends are how having their first/second babies, I can't wait.

I've got a 3yo and wanted another myself since she was born but we only started ttc 4 months ago and I'm now almost 7 weeks gone :). A family holiday was then planned which I won't be going on early next year but I came to realise I'd much prefer a baby over a holiday despite not being abroad for 8 sodding years!!

Awww congrats glitz, when we booked the holiday a few months ago I was being all sensible and thinking, "no no no, it'll be good for us to have a nice two weeks together to chill and enjoy time together before the possible rollercoaster of TTC", but it's coming round soo slowly. I am hoping we can start TTC actually on the holiday!

Yes me!

I've got a 9 month old who I'm still breastfeeding but I've had two periods now and we are both mega broody for another baby!

We've said we will start trying in the Spring, probably around April/May but I am so excited because our first was a (very) happy accident and so I don't get to do the actual "trying" - I never even took a test - it was picked up in a blood test. I'm dying to POAS!

saltedcaramelicious · 16/12/2014 12:06

Yay mrs i'm not alone!! I was v.young when I had my ds, so although I did POAS it wasn't exactly a happy occassion, (although of course I soon got used to it and I love him to absolute bits!) I can't wait to be TTC and POAS and be so so thrilled that it's happened Smile

Can I join please? Waiting for my DH to be ready to TTC #1 and I am going stir crazy! He is saying it is a matter of months rather than years which is a relief but have wanted a baby really badly for the last year. Find it really hard to distract myself, do people have any tips?

saltedcaramelicious · 16/12/2014 14:04

Hi night, how old are you and your dh if you don't mind me asking?
I know my situation is kind of different but I'm focussing on myself and dp, planning things for us to do and lots of couple time (things that are in short supply when a baby is here), and looking into trying some new things at work. Although to be honest it's hard to distract yourself when those hormones are raging Smile

Hi salted. I am 26 and DH is 23 (almost 24), we like younger men in my family :p we will have been married for a year this weekend :) appreciate that we are both quite young, especially DH but I am definitely ready to TTC. He is just a bit further behind, understandable given his age.

Couple time is definitely a good idea, going to try to fit in lots of date nights as well as a holiday or two! I find the only way for me to manage is to keep myself really busy especially at weekends but this can end up being quite expensive and exhausting.

Do you know when you are likely to be able to start trying?

We'll start TTC on our holiday in June next year at the earliest, as I would rather not be pregnant during the holiday - we've both had a hectic year and deserve a proper relaxing holiday before we dive into the TTC lark :)

I always think that holiday babies are so romantic, I guess because it's a bit like a honeymoon baby. I would love to start TTC on our holiday in May but not sure whether DH will be ready by then.

Are you doing anything diet/exercise/health wise to prepare?

hello - another one waiting...
We've got an 18 month old DS and I can't wait to for him to have another sibling... But we have a skiing holiday booked for April and so I have to wait till then to start TTC as it would be a colossal waste of money to be pregnant on that kind of holiday.
Am literally counting the days (have even looked at my period dates to see if I will be fertile during the holiday!!!)

Hi,can I join! I have a 9 month old & dh & I have already agreed that we can ttc June 2015.

I have PCOS & ttc for 6 months before dd came- I was actually about to start fertility treatment when I found out. Now I know I can conceive naturally the NHS won't offer any help so I'm hoping that it won't be too long. Though one of my friends is ttc for number 2 & its taking her 2 years (she fell pregnant straight away with number 1) so I am already a little anxious at the thought it might take ages.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble.

Can I join too? We have a 19month DD and are planning on starting TTC in March- waiting mainly for financial reasons- but OMG I am so broody!
I'm still BF DD so a bit nervous that may impact in getting pregnant, hope not.

DH mentioned starting TTC on our holiday in May last night which would be awesome! Not going to get my hopes up though as I am not sure that you can necessarily put a timescale on being ready for a baby. Hopeful though :) We might all be starting in the next six months if so!

night thats fab news! I haven't started doing anything much to prepare, I hardly drink alcohol anyway and my diet is pretty good, I'm a healthy weight. I will start taking conception multi-vits a couple of months before we officially TTC just to make sure folic acid etc is well topped-up Smile

nutella At one stage I was checking due date calculators to check how far pregnant I'd be if we were to TTC before the holiday!

Same salted, drink very little alcohol and am a healthy weight. Could definitely eat more fruit and veg though so once Christmas is over am definitely going to work on improving that!

Taking folic acid but that's it for now, once DH gives the go ahead will switch to the conception supplements. Really want to build up an exercise regime too as I have read that if your body is already used to exercise then you can safely continue during pregnancy.

Main preparation though is going to be getting this house sorted! Smile

Hello, can I join in too? I'm 33, no kids, OH is chomping at the bit to 'get going' (and tbh I am too) but I started a masters and unsure whether to wait a few months to get that mostly done - my pill runs out in a couple of weeks and OH sees no reason to get any more... it has made periods crazy (long, painful and heavy instead of just long and light) so look forward to stopping it anyway...Confused Exciting times for you all though Smile

nightandthelight · 17/12/2014 11:53

Hi Karelia, how long is left on your masters? Good that both of you are on the same page about wanting to get going :)

Final hand-in for MA is 1st Sept 2015. I figured that women go to work while pregnant so it's not mega different from that, but still scary and I don't want to throw it away as had funding for it. Sounds promising that your DH is making noises about the holiday, night Smile Good luck with the exercise regime too - any ideas what you'll do?

Report
nightandthelight · 17/12/2014 13:19

That's not too bad! You wouldn't have the baby until it was in which is the main thing :) like you say lots of pregnant women work and I know a couple of people who have completed degrees while pregnant. I would go for it if I were you!

My friend has just had a baby and am very happy for her and honoured to be Godmother but it has made my broodiness so much worse. I just wish that DH could give me a time that we could start trying so I could have something to focus on :(

Stay strong salted, it will be your turn before you know it!

@Karelia81 I am in exact same place as you
33, on last pack of pill with my OH desperate to start TTC in the new year, BOTH VERY EXCITED! Has only been to due work commitments that we have waited this long ,now a family member is talking about their summer wedding being abroad, I don't see why we should delay because of it, otherwise there will never be a "right time"
Good luck!!

saltedcaramelicious · 22/12/2014 18:41

qb101 yay :) don't let the wedding stop your plans, even if u fell pregnant straight way you could still go depending on when the wedding is, lots of airlines let you travel up to 36 weeks pg I think for a single uncomplicated pregnancy!

Hello again everyone! DH has now promised me that we will be starting between May and August 2015 so very happy and excited about that :) just worked out the finances of maternity leave, childcare etc and managed to put his mind to rest on that too which is great!

I agree with salted qb101, if we wait for everyone else's plans we would never have children, do it when it's best for you!
