So fed up :( Long cycle rant!

My cycles have been all over the place since I came off the pill (last cycle was 72days!!). Fed up trying to guess when I might be ovulating and when my period might be due. And I'm not getting that many chances to try due to having fewer cycles. Anyone else feeling like this?

Thought I had ovulated 3weeks ago as had EWCM then last week I had my normal PMS symptoms but still no period and have had two negative pregnancy tests. No idea what is going on with me :(

Hi,

I also suffer with long cycles, sometimes more than 90 days and completely understand the frustration!! Are you doing anything to try to shorten them?

Omg I am in the same place. Major understanding nodding going on here.

Two 46 then 40 cycles just had AF come this eve uninvited and with no warning.

I swore I ovulated 9days ago as postive opk and mega ewcm so confused mega time about my lp and cylce length -9days is not good as far as I can tell. I have been ill and on meds ( prednisone and amoxicillin due to bronchitis but ugh)

Someone suggested soy ... Trying that when I get my hands on some !

I actually was convinced I was pg yesterday but bfn then and today. Now nasty AF.

has anyone any advice on regulating a cycle?

Hi toots

My cycles are 90+ days. On day 49 on last cycle, I had 1st session of acupuncture. Next day my boobs were sore and were for days, on day 54, I was having really strong cramps and my back was in half!! 2 days later my period came - around 35 days earlier than my regular cycle. I am continuing with the acupuncture and tomorrow will be session number 3. So many people get their cycles regulated through this. I also have started taking soy isoflavones to encourage ovulation as I didn't ovulate in the last 56 day cycle. Have you read in to either of these?

(Ps. Isn't it easy to convince yourself your pregnant when you are trying so hard!!)

Also toots of you read up on soy, you can also take them in such a way to help increase your luteal phase!

I'll second what Cantbelieve said (hello again!)

I got to CD70+ after stopping the pill & nothing happening. Took Soy Isoflavones for 5 days and I OV'd 5 days after my last dose.

Now I'm 7dpo and my chart has never looked better! I'd definitely give it a go.

Just went to boots to find some soy as think it might be worth a bash...and only had funny stuff for menopause ? I work in the City ( London) if any one has ideas! On cd 2 so need to find some. ;)
Weirdly af disappeared overnight but as it was bright pink (tmi sorry) am sure she will continue today!

Almost time to test toohard (waving from other thread!)

Took my last of soy on Monday...have my fingers crossed now that this brings on ovulation. I have also started charting this month - but with it being my first month - I literally have no idea what I'm doing. Are you a charting guru?? x

Have you seen a doctor about your irregular cycles - if not, hold off on the soy until you do, as if it turns out to be something thyroid related, you really shouldn't take soy.

After coming off the pill in July last year with cycles varying between 31 and 46 days, followed by one horrific curve ball of a 146 day cycle, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in June and have been taking levothyroxine ever since - now my TSH levels are just above 2.
I also started taking agnus castus in June (just before my diagnosis) and I don't know if it's related, but my cycles have been sensible ever since - 31 to 35 days, positive oaks and temp rises, ovulation confirmed by a progesterone test in September. I finally seem to be moving in the right direction!

Sorry toots - completely missed your other posts!

Yes soy is often used for ladies going through the menopause.

Of course, we missed the obvious of asking have you seen GP. I told my GP that I was taking soy which she said she was fine with. Soy is only plant oestrogen and they know what is in it and how it can affect the system. Also with saying that, I have already had thyroid tests previously which all cam back fine. But I suspect my GP might have mentioned the connections between soy and thyroid as she is very good with this type of thing (I'm not saying there is no connection and you should read up on it anyway)

westcountry - would you mind telling me how much agnus castus you use and when? I started for a little while but I read somewhere that it can lengthen cycle so I stopped immediately. No plan to go back to it until I have done a few cycles with soy but would be good to know for the future!

and if you are going to go ahead with soy toots, I got mine online but a lot of people use the tesco ones which are usually 3 for 2!

I've been taking the Nature's Aid ones from Amazon (I think it's 100mg) once a day, but before that I took the ones from H&B with the ridiculously small amount of active ingredient - and my period came after 3 weeks. As I said, no idea whether it's connected, but reluctant to stop now! I just take one a day up to cd14. Hope that helps!

Mine are all over the place, not quite as long as yours but last 3 cycles were 45 days, 35 days and 52 days. I only started opks and got one positive last month on CD 18 but I never get any EWCM. I started charting this month and so far there is no sign that I've ovulated yet (CD19) and only negative opks. If I got EWCM even once I might feel better but it's either watery so I feel like I've wet myself, (sorry tmi), a tiny bit of creamy white or nothing at all. I just feel broken Sad

I also have the nature's aid ones westcountry - will bear yours in mind.

Choccyhobnob - have you had your 21 day test at GP to see if you are ovulating? The pok only tells you if you are 'gearing up to ovulate' - only temp increase for 3 days or more will confirm ovulation.

What about evening primrose oil for ewcm?

Glad I'm not the only one! I'd be fine if I got my period cos then at least I would know either way and could move on to trying next month.

The soy sounds interesting, will look into it. Willing to try anything at this point!

Having interesting mood swings too. Normally get grumpy a few days before my period but instead I have just been really emotional and keep crying. No idea if this is a sign of anything.

Due to cd 3 Tomrrow I had to suck it up and go to holland and b and get their phyto soy stuff but will go online when I out in a few months!

So it comes in 70mg so thinking I take one a night for 3,4,5 and then 140mg for 6 and 7?

Thoughts?
Ugh put on 4lb in two weeks at slimming world tonight - might blame af for my extra weight as well as spots and excessive cramps!

Ah what's a couple of pounds Cake I'm too afraid to get on the scales - I'm usually trim and healthy - between not being in the frame of mind to cook, revising for exams so snacking & constantly being on the go between work and dd activities I have turned into a little porker. Keep telling myself that it won't matter if when I get pregnant... Tut tut!

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 26/11/2014 21:47

I only ever get a bad back usually (and bad skin) but this time my cramps were insane, honestly felt like contractions! Don't know what will happen from here...

Report
martinsgirl · 26/11/2014 22:48

My cramps haven't been too bad, but my skin has been terrible lately. Never got this many spots as a teenager so not used to it!
