Should I be worried?

I'm just wondering really. I have been with dp for 9 years. I have finally got my career sorted and we are settled and happy. We have lived together for 5 years. When we moved in together I stopped taking the pill, not because I wanted to get pregnant at the time but because I thought it was having horrible side effects. I was supposed to sort out alternative BC but I never got round to it. Anyway, we have decided that we will soon start ttc which we are very excited about, but I have a niggle in the back of my mind...we have never had any 'scares' or anything in the last 5 years of no BC.
I know that nobody is psychic and that realistically the sensible thing to do is get ttc and if it doesn't happen then to look into it, I'm just scared really. I don't know what I want anyone to suggest, I just haven't actually voiced these worries before.
Has anyone had a similar experience and then managed to conceive easily? Or is it likely that we will struggle?

When you say no BC have you been having regular sex? What is it that you'll be doing differently when TTC?
