Life after Cerazette and TTC

I came off cerazette mid September after being on it for 4 years to try for our first baby. Before that I was on the depo injection so not had periods for 8 years in total. I got a withdrawl bleed after 3 days then my first period 20 days after I stopped taking the pill. This was much lighter and shorter than I was used to from when I was younger where I'd be heavy for 5-7 days; this was barely heavy for 1 with 2-3 days very light, more like brown discharge. Then my second cycle was also 20 days and again my period was very light lasting about 3 days. Firstly has anyne else experienced similar and secondly with such short cycles and light periods am I likely to be ovulating? I really don't want to use ovulation kits as I know I'd become obsessed but just looking for some reassurance this is normal. I'm used to 28 cycles of heavy flow so ths is all a bit weird to me. Also after the initial pregnancy like symptoms I got from coming off cerazette, the extreme tiredness and irritability have continued and the whole thing is just making me frustrated. Help please :-)

I was on cerazette for years with the odd bleed every five or six months, came off and had only the one period a couple of days later before falling pg. Am in my mid/late thirties. Not similar to you, but at least it was obvious that I started ovulating right away after coming off, so maybe you have too but just not had any luck conceiving yet. Keep at it!

Thank you. Good to hear a positive story. Im not in a rush to conceive but its just the not knowing that's driving me crazy. I was really lucky on cerazette and the depo and had a really positive experience so weird getting used to what its like again without it :-)

I came off cerazette 10 days ago now and still no sign of a withdrawal bleed Sad

I'd been on it 6 years and was on microgynon for 4 years before that. Starting to worry about the long term effects now so really hoping I get something soon.

I really hope what you're having is normal because I used to have long, heavy, painful periods too and what you're describing sounds much better!

Hello, it look me 17 days to have a period after stopping. My first 2 or 3 periods very light and short too but then they settled in to a 28-30 day cycle and became heavy again. I was on Cerazette for about 8 years. Still no luck with ttc though!

teakind - Good to hear from someone who didn't have a withdrawal bleed straight away. I was beginning to think their was something wrong. Disappointed that I might go back to heavy normal though.

Going to ttc after christmas. I came off carazette 1st of September, no withdrawal bleed but period like bleeding 28 days later and now another period like bleed started today at 31 weeks after last bleed.

Hi Crazy, yeh heavy normal is a pain but at least it could mean that things are back to how they should be. It's taken a bit of getting used to though after 8 years with no AF!

Yeah I can imagine. On that note, I better put some pads in my handbag. Can just guarantee it will happen when I'm at work! Ugh, now I remember why I loved my pill so much Grin

It's so weird getting used to what I should be feeling like. Yes 8 years without periods was amazing and I felt so good on both depo and cerazette so to come off it and feel tired all the time with constant bloating is driving me insane. Also I'm over analysing every symptom I'm getting as I just can't remember how you are meant to feel at certain times in your cycle which is the bit that driving me mental. The amount of money I'm wasting on tests is ridiculous! Hoping it all settles down soon but glad to hear from people in the same boat Smile

Oh the symptom spotting is so annoying. Every little twinge has got me wondering what's going on in there. And I don't remember being bloated all the time before I started cerazette. Hoping it settles down soon so I can get on to actual symptom spotting!

No me neither, the bloating is the worst. It'll be like the boy the cried wolf though, when the symptoms are eventually real we won't believe it ha x

Yeah that's definitely true. If it's anything like I'm feeling at the moment then I can see how people don't realise they're pregnant for so long!
