Do you see it????????????

I really don't want to get my hopes up (see my recent posts:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2019340-CD35-8-days-late-BFN-Ill-earlier-in-year-whats-going-on

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2033997-AF-arrived-21-days-late-but-strange-flow-TMI

...but this is the first definite line that I have had. Is it possible to get a false positive while apparently on AF?

Any opinions greatly appreciated!

That looks undoubtedly positive! Congratulations! first response are very reliable, if you're bleeding as if it's your period then mention it to the doctor but I'm sure it's nothing, some women bleed normally throughout their pregnancies!xx

Definitely a line. Congratulations! I'd go to the doctor and mention the bleeding and see what they think. Might also be worth trying a less sensitive test tomorrow to compare. But for now, a line is a line!

Thanks ladies! My stomach is doing backflips - thank goodness I've got the day off work today, don't think I'd be able to concentrate!

How much longer do you think I should wait before I test again?

xx

Are you having a full period or spotting? X

Tranquilitybaby,

I'm really not sure. As mentioned in my other post, my normal period lasts between 4-7 days, and usually has heavy flow over days 2-3. This time I haven't really had a full flow, and only really lost dark red blood whilst sitting on the toilet on day 2 (my pads were barely marked).

I don't know what to think this is! Can any of you share stories of spotting?

Yes I can see a faint second line.

Fingers crossed for you Smile

I had implantation bleeds with both of mine, fooled me both times and confused my dates completely Grin

I can see it clearly, that's not faint! Congrats Thanks

Afraid I can't help with the spotting, I never got any, but my sis had what she thought was a faint period...it was implantation bleeding and my nephew is now 5 years old.

Beverleymoss, what was your bleeding like. Mine is still here today (3rd - 4th day), and is still vibrant red, mainly when sat on toilet, or wiping. I have put a tampon in to monitor how much I'm losing. Have a very mild grumbly ache in lower tummy too.

Also wondering if anybody has experienced hair loss in the early stages of PG? I've noticed a lot more hair coming out in my brush and when I wash my hair over the last week or so. My hair is long, so just thought it was deceptive, but I have now read that it can be a symptom?

I can't remember that well (youngest is not 6 Smile ) but it was enough to think I'd had a period and therefore confused about my dates.

is now 6, obvs.

Congratulations!

You should probably get the spotting checked out. And best to use a panty liner rather than a tampon really.

That is definitely a line though. Smile

So I suddenly remembered that for some reason I kept the HPT I did 4 days ago. I fished it out of the drawer, and what was a clear BFN last week, today displayed a pale but visible pink line! Here's a picture of the two tests, top is last weeks at 20 days late, bottom is today's at 24 days late.

I know you're not supposed to read them after a certain length of time, but I also know that some people get their BFP reading the test after the recommended development time. Today's line showed within the expected 3 minutes. What do you think - is this more reassurance that today's wasn't just a fluke!!

I think your pregnant but uf your bleeding you need to be aware it could be early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy.

Hope this sticks :)

I second what cookie has said, just wanted to say it could be a chemical pregnancy if you're bleeding a lot. Def see your gp. X

I had a line that looked very similar... Was even fainter within prescribed 3 minutes and so I missed it entirely. Left test in bathroom for some reason and picked it up again about 30 minutes later and it looked like your second photo [16:15 post].

That incredibly faint line, only seen after 30 minutes on a Clear Response, has just turned 3 years old and is sitting on the sofa watching SpongeBob SquarePants.

Good luck!

NutcrackerFairy - that made me laugh!

Thanks ladies for all your messages, and to those of you who advised going to my GP. I went tonight as an urgent appointment. The good news is that I got another positive, and this was with the tiniest dribble of afternoon urine!!! Don't think there's any doubting that line, maybe hubby will believe it now ;-) - estimated 7 weeks gone.

The less positive news is that I'm not in the clear yet. He's referring me to the early pregnancy assessment unit for an early scan to look for a heartbeat and therefore a 'viable foetus'. If they see one, I will still need another scan a week later to check again, as it could be a 'threatening miscarriage'.

For now, I'm trying to remain positive. That's three positive tests now, so as my doctor put it, I'm managing to produce HCG from somewhere!

So there's been lots going on since I last posted on Tuesday...

I'm still bleeding. I'm still able to get away with a panty liner rather than a more substantial pad, which I am only needing to refresh 3 times a day. However, the blood is vivid red, with occasional very small clots, mainly if I haven't moved around very much (as if the blood has stayed inside and had time to clot if that makes sense). I still drip blood when I'm on the toilet, which I think is due to the change of angle in my pelvis allowing blood to get through my cervix. Have a dull ache in my lower abdo, more like very early period pain, but not cramping as such, and certainly bearable.

I took another FRER yesterday morning. I needed to see that line appear, and I was curious to see if the line was more prominent than before, or fading. Here's the three tests, 20th March at the top, 24th March in the middle, and 26th March at the bottom.

Hopefully you agree that it's definitely getting clearer.

I went along to the Early Pregnancy Unit yesterday. They couldn't find anything on a normal scan, so had to have trans-vaginal too, which also failed to show anything in the womb I was devastated, though it served me right for getting over-excited in the first place...

They took some bloods to check HCG levels, and called me later to tell me that my level is 26, which is only just high enough to be picked up by lots of pregnancy tests, and would indicate that if I am pregnant, I would be in the very early stages (2-3 weeks) rather than the 7 weeks predicted if you go by the date of my last period. If it is that early, the developing embryo would be too small to see on the scan.

I have to have another blood test tomorrow to check for a rise or fall in HCG level. The two main possibilities are:

  1. Very early pregnancy, with not enough hormone to prevent me shedding some of the womb lining like a normal monthly cycle, hence the bleeding.
  2. Chemical pregnancy.

They checked my ovaries and womb during the trans-vaginal scan, and everything looked good except a small cyst on my left ovary. Hopefully this means they think there is less risk of this being an ectopic, though I suppose this early, it might still have been too small to be able to see anything in the tube on the scan.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me. Trying so hard not to be too hopeful so that I get crushed again, but can't let go of that little bit of hope that everything will turn out ok, and I'm just one of the unlucky ones who will bleed for an unknown period of time. Have been really tired yesterday and today, but not sure if this is just from the emotional ups and downs, and a physical job, or whether it's the sign of a little bubs settling in.
