Day 21 Blood Tests Advice Please!

Hi ladies,
I went to see the Dr this week and she has put me forward for the Day21 blood tests. I could do with calling on some knowledge though as I am unsure when to book the tests for....my cycles were regular 26 days up until about 6 months ago when they became a bit more irregular, shortest has been 23 days, longest 34 days. My last cycle was 26 days, but my Luteal Phase is averaging between 8 and 10 days. Do I just go with what the Dr said and book the tests for cycle day21 and see what outcome that has, or do I book them for when I think is 7 days after ovulation, or when I think is 7 days before my next period is due!?
Thank you in advance for any advice Smile

Hi Gingerbread - I have my day 21 blood test tomorrow. My GP said it needs to be 7 days after ovulation rather than day 21, they call it day 21 test as it's based on a day 14 ovulation. I have a 27/28 day cycle so my GP said to test on day 20. I took an opk this month to make sure I would be testing at the right time and will be 6/7 days post ovulation.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Inshock! Nice to hear someone has a GP who actually pays attention to this stuff and knows what they are talking about! I usually ovulate about cd17, so I guess I'll book it for 7 days after that. Good luck to you with your results.

I am lucky with my GP, helps that she's a woman in her 40's and had her children later so she gets it! Good luck to you too!

Hi Ginger
I had mine done 3 weeks ago. My acupuncturist told me to have them done on day 23. I have a regular 30 days cycle and a 14day LP.
Hope that helps!

7 days after ovulation is best. I accidentally calculated wrong last month and had it on day 22, 8 days post ovulation and my result still suggested ovulation (43).

Thanks angel and Jesse, so it looks like 7 days post ovulation is the key! I wonder why the GP didn't mention that, seems like a waste of everyones time to get them done on day 21 when I told her I have a short cycle. Hopefully I will be able to book them exactly 7 days after getting a positive opk.
Good luck to you all!
