Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

Hi, dietcoke, I'm in almost the same situation as you, only two weeks ahead - took my last pill on the 11th of January after being on it for about eight years... I can't even remember what my cycles were like pre-pill, cause I never used to track them properly, so it's a bit of a mystery what will happen now! If I had a textbook 28 day cycle, AF would be due today, I've been having that "before period" feeling on and off for a week or so now, but no sign of AF as yet...
Good luck to you!

Oh hi clever, thanks for sharing your story!! I can't remember anything from pre - pill life either so I have no idea what to expect!! Did you notice any signs/symptoms around mid Jan to indicate ovulation? I'm trying to monitor my cm but it seems very minimal at the mo....sorry if tmi!!! ;) it's amazing how quickly things like this can take over your thoughts isn't it!

Hey Diet, 'seen" you on another thread ;).

I stopped taking Microgynon 30 in early December, so I guess I'm in the same boat as you and Clever but perhaps a little bit ahead?

Anywho, I suppose it depends what pills you took as to how it might affect you (everyone's different too which doesn't help - it's all such a guessing game LOL). I seemed to have a 'normal' period almost straight away (I think from 3rd Jan, as expected) but then this time it's been a bugger and let me get my hopes up only for AF to arrive 7 days late :(. TMI alert but it's been really painful so far, which it hasn't been for years...but I suppose I'm basing my 'normal' periods on those controlled by the pills, so perhaps not quite as normal as they could be. I think my pre-pill AF visits were quite painful and quite heavy, but I was only 13 at the time and that could have just been sorting themselves out - I think they got easier and lighter as I got older. I was 18 when I went on the pill so I must have managed with AFs somehow...can't see me putting up with pain unnecessarily!
Really rather hoping that my cycles will go back to their nice easy-to-predict 28 day selves and that this odd one was just...um...odd.

Not quite sure of the point of my ramblings there (sorry!) but I think what I'm trying to say is that nobody knows as or when you'll get back to some sort of 'normal' (again, sorry!) BUT I'm sure there's lots of us on here that are doing the same things as you, worrying about the same things as you, and wanting to compare themselves to someone else to find out if they are normal or not sooooooo I suggest we keep chatting to each other and at some point we're bound to find some sort of pattern to our cycles, and you never know, we might even get a BFP somewhere along the way!

Butterfly buns to anyone who managed to get to the end of that and not be confused!!! I'm confused by ^ so I'll be impressed by anyone who can understand it!-

Dietcoke, I did watch my cm quite closely, but to be honest I don't really know what to look for, but there were changes to it and I also got light pain/cramping about two weeks ago.
I'm very curious about what my body is doing right now, I think because I've been on the pill for so long I kind of lost faith in my body's ability to manage a "normal" cycle, so I'm actually quite excited about the next few months, as weird as that may be Grin

Hi, Spotti :) I'm a bit worried about "real" periods, cause I remember them being very painful pre-pill... I suppose I'll just have to wait and see...

It's quite therapeutic, writing all this down, isn't it? DH is not the best audience for cycle talk Grin so it's nice to have an outlet here :)

Ah yes hi spotti, it's nice to have someone a bit ahead of us! Sorry to hear AF has arrived late, im pretty sure it won't be long until you get your BFP! Hopefully we will be like those ladies you hear about who are super fertile when they stop the pill (I used to take micron on by the way!). Well from what I understand about cm, it starts to become more egg whitish around ovulation.... hmmm. I'll be looking forward to some cramps too! Have either of you ever considered those opks? I think I'd get too caught up with them so am happy to go with the flow for now :) would perhaps try them if things don't happen in a few months though some people don't rate them?!

Hi ladies, I came off microgynon early December, 1st cycle was 27 days, second was 32. I had super strong symptoms first cycle, boobs killed, tonnes of ewcm etc & last cycle was absolutely fine.

I give myself a month off first month, tried last month so now into my second. Were fairly healthy, don't drink or smoke. I hoped to be a 'one shag wonder' but it seems not too many are that lucky...most second/third but some can be a lot lot longer. Stats are around 20% chance every time.

I'm trying not to go down the OPKS route diet because I know full well that I will get super obsessed and then stressed when things don't seem to be working! Like you, I'm happy trying to go with the flow and leaving the monitoring stuff for 'just in case' (it's a bit of a safety net to make me think I have something else up my sleeve in case the relaxed approach doesn't work.

And yes clever, that's why I'm addicted to this forum already! OH tries to be interested but I'm sure he's getting bored of my constant baby-talk. Nice to have a chat to other ladies in the same boat :-).

Hi! I took my last pill in November, withdrawal bleed started Nov 30th and thought I’d share what’s happened so far!

CD6 – cramps in left side
CD13 – cramps in left side
CD18 – severe cramps in left side.
CD31 – AF arrived

Throughout this month I had hot and cold sweats, headaches, mood swings, spots, the lot. Horrific.

Next month:
CD7 – cramps in right side
CD13 – cramps in left side
CD14 – severe cramps in right side
From CD22 onwards I had cramps low down, nausea, dizziness, headaches and I got quite excited. Then…

CD28 – AF arrived
Grin

This month I’m now on CD14 and I’ve had no cramps at all. I have had noticeable EWCM for the first month which I noticed on CD11 and CD12. I’m assuming I’ll ovulate today but I have no idea really!

The problem with symptom spotting is you’re always looking for it and you start to imagine them, I think. Like now, I’ve started to “feel” a bit of pain deep in my left hip. This is nothing like the previous cramps but I’m thinking “Oh, this is it.” It probably isn’t. Grin

Ooh it's so good to hear we are all in similar boats!! Yesterday and today I've noticed a couple of "blobs" of what I think is ewcm.... don't know for definite if it's that though but it's clear and stretchy, does this sound about right? It's been about 18 days since I came off the pill?! Or should ewcm not be in blob form? I strong apologise for sharing tmi ladies!!! :)

Well this looks like the thread for me! Came off the pill on January 3rd, had a withdrawal bleed straight away for 5 days and then a period 2 weeks later. So although I have no idea how erratic my cycles might be I'm talking this as a good sign!
I posted another thread asking advice for dates- perhaps you ladies will know, if your cycles aren't regular due to coming off he pill, when would you test??!
Good to see I'm not the only one in the same boat!

Hi snowflake!! If it were me, I think I'd test on cd28 or so and keep and eye for a few days if get bfn on first test... have you had any signs/ symptoms of ovulation in the past few days/weeks?!

Yes, ewcm in a blob is good!

After last month getting my hopes up & my coming off pill cycle when I was certain I was upduffed, I now aren't testing before AF due so test on cd29 onwards for me is OK.

I'm never buying ic's again, I will be mn's first former poas'aholic!

I'm on cd7, predicted of on cd17 (dtd'athon from Thursday onwards) & pee on my one last test on either cd29(5th march) or cd33(9th march) I had a longer lp last month.

I'm guestimating this month...bfp symptoms or else no test! X

Ooh, lots of new people, hello! :)

Technical question. Your first cycle after stopping the pill - is cd1 the first day of your withdrawal bleed, or first day "officially" off pill (so when you'd normally start taking it after weeks break)?

If it's the first day of bleed, than today is cd30 for me and still no sign of af...

BubaBoo · 11/02/2014 20:20

I came off the mini pill December and haven't had a bleed since, im due on in 2-3 days. are u supposed to have a bleed as soon as you come off the pill? I did a preg test few days ago which was neg but I have sore boobs on the sides which I don't normally get and feel sicky. could be from coming off the pill :-/ xx

dietcoketime69 · 11/02/2014 20:30

Hi clever, I think that some people argue you can't count your withdrawal bleed towards cycle days as it's not a "normal" af...However in saying that,I counted 1st day of my withdrawal bleed as CD1 anyway, and yesterday/today started to notice bloating and ewcm, which has coincided with me being at cd15 today so am hoping this is a good sign...will know in 2 weeks if af/bfp arrive I guess!! :)

Buba - I know everyone experiences different things when coming off pill so not sure, I had withdrawal bleed a couple of days after stopping pill but that was microgynon so can't speak for mini pill, sorry if that's not much help!!

Hello

Bubaboo, You don't get a withdrawal bleed when stopping a Progesterone-only pill (mini-pill eg cerazette)the way you do with a combined pill like (eg Microgynon). You just have to wait patietly for your period.

Before I had DS I was on Microgynon for donkeys years. After the withdrawal bleed (a few days after stopping) my cycles went pretty much back to normal straight away (give or take about 3-4 days). And I conceived three months after stopping.

After having DS I changed to Cerazette. Stopped taking it in November to TTC. Mine took from November until January, but haven't had another period since my first (32 days since). So I have no idea how long my cycle will be. Which is a bit difficult when it comes to estimating your fertile times.

Think it's just a matter of waiting. I understand periods can take a while to get back to "normal" after cerazette. I am waiting for AF now and have a back ache but it's probably due to lugging a toddler around. So who knows what my cycle is doing? I could be ovulating now for all I now bats eyelashes at DH
