Me too, last month 41 days then this month currently on CD34 with no sign of AF yet. Makes the wait soooo much longer. When do you ovulate?

Not until cd25/26 I'm feeling every cycle of trying is taking so long , not sure how "normal"
My cycles are now that I've started watching them Hmm

If your cycles are consistently this long it may be that you are not ovulating regularly. Self predicting ovulation in such circs is beset with problems; it is not always the case at all that a person ovulates around 2 weeks before the start of the next period.

I would look into having blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are like. You need a day 2 test to start with to check and compare your LH level against that of your FSH level.

Do you think that my ovulation testing sticks are being incorrect then ?

Have you been diagnosed pcos?
It can make opks unreliable (according to the clear blue monitor)
Also think someone said the lh that it measures may be raised with no ovulation.
Someone else said they used them with pcos and they worked so ?
40 days is a long cycle are they regularly the same length?
How long Ttc?

I've been ttc 1 for 6 months. My cycles are quite irregular. This month im on cycle day 40 no af but 2 bfn, this is the longest I've gone!
We're going to hospital tomorrow so hopefully we will get to the bottom, just makes it so much more frustrating!!

Is the trying straight after coming off the pill?

Report
Jenwah · 29/01/2014 10:25

Yeah cilest, I was on for 10 years!

Report

People do seem to be irregular when coming off.
But certainly if you were irregular before going on, no harm visiting gp to discuss pcos etc esp if you have any symptoms excess hair, weight, etc.

Thats good as they can hide cycle problems and take a while for some to get back to usual

I'm another one whose cycle has been all over the place since coming off the pill (14 years on Microgonyn 30)

My cycles have been 46, 35, 46, 52, 25, 14, 31 and 34 days. I have no recollection of what my cycle was like prior to being on the pill.

Do you think I should consider a trip to the doctor now? I'm 36 years old, 37 in May. I don't have any symptoms of PCOS, BMI of 23, healthy diet, not smoked for 10+ years, exercise regularly...

Hi everyone. I have always had long cycles with 35 days on average +/-1 day. However, in August I had a one-off 55 day wait and just the last cycle 41 days. I am wondering whether I should have tests done sooner rather than later. Came off pill about 3 years ago. Cbfm gave me a super early peak on CD 12 last cycle which I believe was a raised lh but not Ov.
I feel with all of you - it is such a misery waiting for AF...

I'll jump on the bandwagon too.Mines are ridiculous too. Last cycle was 70 something days. I think I'm on day 40 now. OP I'd see your doctor. I'm not ovulating at all at the Monroe t, don't think I have since August. We've just had our first appointments are the fertility clinic though to try and get it sorted.

Over the last year, my cycles have been:

48, 49, 23, 22, 54, 23, 19, 33, 19, 27, 49

So I seriously don't know how long this cycle is going to be. It could either be just as long or half as long. Who knows?!?! Angry

Hi everyone! Having read through, I wondered at what stage you were thinking of going to the dr re longer cycles?

If you haven't been on the pill or something akin to it, and your cycles have been like that for longer than 6 months, I would probably be off to the dr to find out what, if anything, they can do. Anyone else?

I've been off the pill about 9 months (cycle 4 ttc) but cycles are generally around 40- 50 days so I'm getting to the stage I think there is something not quite right. But I'm not sure how long to wait given it may be linked to coming off the pill, although can it seriously be that after this length of time?

At the moment I'm trying reflexology as I've heard its worth a go to regulate cycles so I'll see what that brings in the next 6 weeks or so.

Pcos can vary from person to person
Irregular cycles, annovulation, excess hair, cysts on ovaries.
Excess weight. Insulin resistance high testosterone

I only had the cysts annovulation and irregular cycles.
(I dont consider 2 hairs on my chin as i have a small scar there)
My bmi was 22 (i wouldnt say particularly healthy diet lots of carbs and processed foods)
My cycles probably varied by about 15 days.
If youve been trying a while no harm in going in and talking about your irregular cycles especially if they used to be irregular.
However i think some women do get pg naturally with ocos and do ovulate it just varies. Its obviously difficult to know when to dtd.
If you have blood tests done a cd3 i think can measure fsh and lh and they look at these against each other if you have pcos lh is usually double or more the fsh.
They can also test progesterone on (what would be cd21 if you have a regular cycle. But may need to be different if your cycle is longer.
But even if you do have an issue doesnt mean it is the cause get a SA to rule that out.

Hi everyone,
Ive been to hosp today, 1st appoinment at the fertility clinic.
They're starting to do tests now so I think it's worth going to your docs to get the ball rolling. There's no harm. They did day it's harder to test oculus till with long and irregular cycles so I have to do numerous bloods over the next 2months.

I know everyone says it takes a while for your cycles to get back to normal but I didn't think this long. Myn have been 37,35,31,31,35,35 and still awaiting next af day 41 now, 2 bfn

Surely long cycles don't have to be a sign that something is wrong? Mine are anything from 30-60 days- usually around 45. Still ovulate on about day 21 and got preg with dc1 on 2nd month of TTC.
So annoying though- so much waiting and so long to wait for next fertile period each month.

Im sure they dont and may mean less if just come off pill as could take a while to regulate.
Its interesting you were still ovulating on same day despite length of cycle.
My peaks like cycles varied.
Are you ttc no 2? How long?
But if people are taking a while to get pg no harm in talking to gp about irregular cycles
