Just looking for others in a similar boat really, just married I am 35 and DH 45 and planning to start TTC next cycle. Terrified that it won't happen, stomach churns every time I dare to hope it might and reading these threads starting to think I have no clue!

Chances are it will!

I know there are a lot of people with fertility problems on here, but try not to worry about it.

Not sure of the statistics, but try to put it into context.

Do you know many people in RL who have had trouble conceiving?

I don't, but I know loads of people who haven't struggled to conceive, and even several people who have conceived when they weren't actively trying to/or were actively trying not to.

There is a concentration of everything on mn. If you did a thread on how many people didn't struggle to conceive at 35, you'd get pages and pages of people.

In RL, I don't know of anyone with a child over the age of 3 who still wets the bed, but on here I've chatted with countless people whose DCs are in the same boat, for example.

Good luck x

Thanks misfitless, you've made me feel much more relaxed! What you said about MN makes so much sense and i'll definitly try to keep that in mind. I'll bet you're a brilliant Mum Smile

In my friendship group, 35 was a pretty average age TTC, and a majority of us has no issues. I had my two at 35 and 37 no worries. In north London where I live I am honestly relatively young to have kids.

It is definitely a good time not to dither, and a sensible time to seek advice quickly if for any reason it doesn't happen fairly quickly. But just concentrate now on the fact that it could be really straightforward. All the very best with it.

Thanks crazyhead, it's so nice to have some reassurance and sensible advice. I always assumed i'd be in my 30's by the time I had children and didn't think twice about it but then I went online and started reading about declining fertility rates and the average time to get pg being longer and got myself all wound up.

I suppose TTC is a unique milestone in life because most of us do it without routinely seeking the experience, advice and reassurance from family and friends that we would when moving house, changing jobs, getting married etc. It means you can easily form an unbalanced mindset, thank goodness for mn!

My friend was in the same boat at 40 when she started & now has 2 beautiful babies without any intervention. Your fertility only starts to decline slightly at 35 so there is no reason at all why you won't conceive with as much success as someone else. Get healthy & b dance away see what happens!! Smile

I'm new here and in a similar position. I've just turned 37 and my DH has just turned 40, also recently married last year.

This is our first month of TTC, and I'm hopelessly waiting until this weekend when my AF is due before I can take a test. I didn't think it would happen straight away at my age so I'm not getting my hopes up too much, who am I kidding!

I'm sure I've had some early pregnancy signs but it could all just be in my head.

Fingers and toes crossed for all!

Evening all! I am ttc my first, currently 36. Also married last yr to DH who will be 38 soon. Am on my 8th cycle. Tbf some months we haven't 'tried' as much as we should......

I have pretty short cycles and think i may have been leaving it too latein the month. Apparently on average you ov. 14 days before end of cycle, not after the start. Which makes quite a difference with a 25 day cycle!!

Also meant to add, my sister fell pregnant for the first time at 38 after one encounter!! And again when her child was 4 months old and she was breastfeeding, also only one go!

Hi all,

I was also TTC #1 and will be 39 in April.

I was due my AF yesterday and as I am quite regular took a test today and I got a BFP. We were trying (not seriously though TBH) since last September.

Good luck to all the 35+'s out there Smile
