This all new to me so just looking for people I can chat with who know as much as me. I am 22 years old and me and my Husband have been thinking about having children for over a year now. I don't know any of the the abbreviations on here so I might not understand everything you are trying to say but I'm sure I will pick it up quickly. I have nieces and a nephew so know a few things about pregnancy and things but not so much on the conception considering none of them were planned.

I had my first period since my Depo in September and have just finished my 2nd. I had my last Depo Aug 2012 so its been a good few months for my body to get back to normal, after 5 years of being on contraceptives.

I know I haven't asked anything specific just thought it would be nice to speak to someone in the same boat as me. :)

You are not alone!! I am 24 just married, and husband and I want nothing more than our own family!
There are quite a few newbies trying at the mo!
I had implant removed end of sept, so i know where your coming from!! I just have to wait a few days to know if my husband and I were sucessfull, but i highly doubt it, it takes quite a while to get pregnant from what I have seen, and there are many on here that have been temping and charting etc to find out the best time to dtd.
I am going to give it until end of January before i start worrying or tracking when i ovulate etc.
Good luck

Hi Lewby & Newlywed, I'm 32 and DH is 34 and we are trying for #1.

I finished the pill in June and periods (AF) came back in August but no luck yet. You spend the whole time avoiding getting pregnant then when you want to be you realise it's not that easy!

Have you told anybody in RL? I've not told anybody as don't want everybody asking how it's going but my friend has just sent a gorgeous cot bed and Moses basket to the charity shop and I was so close to saying could we buy them Grin

Good luck to you both!

Hey ladies,

I too have recently stopped the pill (23 Sept). I've had a withdrawal bleed but still waiting on AF. Actually praying she comes soon. Having all the period symptoms but just not period and this has been going on for about 10 days now. Also really want AF to make an appearance just so I know I'm working again!

I'm moving in with my OH in a few weeks and can't wait to get down to dtd and actively trying. It's so exciting!

I'm going to try and stay away from temping and charting etc and just try to enjoy it for what it is, think I'd get too obsessed if I started all that.

I'm told a few close friends that we're going to be TTC soon but haven't gone into detail.

Good luck everyone and fingers crossed the BFP's start rolling in!

xxx

hi ladies! we're TTC#1 came off the implant in August and took about a month for my cycles to start up again. I started temping, OPKs and all that madness in my first cycle and we were super lucky and got pg but then not so lucky and had an early mc a couple of weeks ago. Now in my first cycle since mc and ready to get back to it! good luck to everyone!

Hello! I am brand new too. Hubs and I would love to start a family.
I am 27 came off the pill in June.. Having regular-ish periods 30-33 days from very 1st month, Today is day 34 for me and whilst I've had all signs since Sunday AF still hasn't shown up.. Resisting urge to do a test! Don't want to get hopes up!

My periods were 35 days apart and I know I ovulate exactly 17 days before my period as i ovulated exactly 17 days before both so far. Maybe I should take a leaf out of your books and not track my ovulation and just go with the flow. Good to know there are a lot more people in the same situation. I have told a friend and family about TTC, Sometimes I wish I hadn't as they all ask how it's going and it starts to get to you when you have to keep saying nothing has happened yet.
I don't know if anyone else has a husband that only wants a boy for his first child and he really wants me to chart my ovulation so he has more chance of that happening. Any advice on that front? I know when i ovulate but is it actually true that we will definitely have a boy on ovulation day? Sorry I probably sound a bit too eager to know.

I wouldn't have thought it possible to determine the sex of your baby - I think they must be myths ... however my DH (dear husband) also really wants a boy so I know how you feel!

Hi, what an exciting time! I am not in the same boat as you but I read a post on another website from a natural fertility expert on how to tell when you are fertile. Thought it might help you work out when was the best time to try!! It was quite interesting and mostly about recognising your bodies signs leading up to and during fertility. I will put link at end in case you fancy a read?! Hope it helps anyway and good luck, oh and happy trying!!! forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537

I was always so paranoid about getting pregnant before i had the implant, and before that i remember being convinced when we had a condom split and I never realised how much it would take to happen!! I have been symptom spotting all month, and hope that AF doesnt arrive on Saturday!! its the waiting that is horrible!!

Im supposed to be on a big night out on friday and am worried about drinking etc!!! arghhhh this is enough to do your head in! I would love a little girl first :)

newlywed2013 I would also love a little girl! I can't imagine having a boy - but I'm sure as long as any baby I have is healthy, I won't really be bothered (think we all would say that!)

Im jealous some of you all have regular cycles!! :( no fair! I came off the pill August, had withdrawl bleed straight after, then spotting for few days beginning of this month but no AF. CD49 and nothing other than sickness, (getting worse) hard boobs, and cramps - oh and this week I've turned into the she devil. My poor DH! Done 4xHPT, all BFN's. Still hoping though... Looks like we might also have found a new home - bigger than where we are but cheaper rent, so at least that's good news. The bad news is my sister is due her third baby end of November, and my sister-in-law has just announced her fourth pg. I have serious baby envy!!!

Hi sittingpretty don't worry about a regular cycle yet, I came off the pill in June had withdrawal bleed then it was 63 days before AF but it is now regular.

It is a pain trying to work out ovulation though!

wineandchoccy did you have the same symptoms too? (Sickness, tiredness, cramps, back ache etc)

Report
Wineandchoccy · 24/10/2013 15:56

Yes felt very odd, like AF was on its way but it never came and I was a moody cow! I felt a bit spaced out like I could faint if that makes sense and when AF did start I had horrendous back ache but since it has been ok.

I'm also new to this. Came off the pill in June after 16 years on it....(I'm 35) and I was amazed to find my period came back 27 days later and has been 27 days ever since!! I hadn't had a period for 2 years when I went on it cos of eating disorders ( I was too thin) so I'm sooo happy that I'm fertile!! Anyway, been feeling awful last few days, really tired, nauseous, crampy...and period was due today and not yet here. Hmmmm, could it be?!

Hi guys, I'm not TTC (I'm actually 3 days overdue!!) but I was in your position.... Just wanted to suggest something.
Look up LH strips on eBay.... Super cheap (you only used a few each month and they are 69p for 10!) but they measure the LH hormone which signifies when you are about to ovulate. This is a godsend if you have irregular periods or your periods have yet to settle down after coming off contraceptives. After using these strips I realised I was ovulating nearly a week later than I should have been so was missing the crucial window each time (we both work shifts so not easy to DTD (do the deed) on demand!) after using these strips I fell pregnant first month!! Hope this is of some help to someone Smile x

Hello,

In the same position as most others here, just come off my pill literally today and TTC our first. Some abbreviations are lost on me lol! Can someone explain AF, POAS, and BFN's? Tried to guess but not sure in right haha!!

Good luck everyone!!

Hi Regina I'm also a newbie but I've been lurking for a while and scaring myself to death reading some older posts about ttc after the pill. Have a look at the acronyms at the top of this page, should give you some idea of the abreviations. To get you started: AF= period, POAS= pee on a stick, BFN= big fat negative (we all really want BFP= big fat positive!)
I stopped taking cerazette 19th September and have been trying to make sense of my cycle. I've just had about 5 days of very light bleeding so I'm hoping that was it.....
twiddle I've actually bought some of those sticks you mention and will be starting with them tomorrow. Fingers crossed....
Good luck all
