Clearblue Digital positive test today after low HCG yesterday?

HI All,
I?m probably clutching at straws here, but would love to hear your views.
Yesterday my bloods came back at a level of 16 (very low I know) 14 dpo IUI cycle. The nurse told me that it should have been about 76 by now and said it didn?t look good and said we were probably looking at about a 10% chance of success. I was told to continue taking progesterone for another week and go back on Friday for another blood test.
Today I took a Clearblue digital which came back ?Positive 1-2 weeks? and had a ?Google? because I was curious as to how low you HCG levels can be to get a positive reading. I found a lot over text saying over 50 for Clearblue Digital! So now obviously feeling a little more hopeful?
Has anyone had a similar experience with Clearblue Digital tests?
Anyone had a HCG reading that low and gone on to have a healthy baby?
Would you try and hold off testing until Friday (a week seems such a long time to wait)?
Thanks in advance, Viks x

Hi Vikks,

I don't know much about what your going through, but I have heard its very unlikely to get a false positive, Can you try and speak to the nurse for some advice?

Good luck!

Hi and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I haven't had quite the same experience, but did once have hcg levels measured low at only 7, but was about 10dpo at the time, and did not get a positive home pregnancy test til two days later.

It is hard, but try to stay positive. Doubling times for hcg are an indicator of whether a pregnancy is going ok, but they are not definitive either way.

Low hcg and lack of good doubling times can lead to a perfectly healthy pregnancy (my mum and sister never ever got positive tests with one pregnancy each). Whilst I have had pregnancies with perfect hcg levels and doubling, for it to still end in miscarriage.

My advice to you is to try to take one day at a time, the mantra"today I am pregnant" is helpful here. If you feel you must test, the please do not use the conception indicator ones, they are expensive and not at all accurate as they depend on the concentration of urine etc. If you feel you need the reassurance of testing at home, use the cheap ebay or amazon HPTs. Then you can test more and remember that the tests will only gradually get darker and a one off day where it is lighter could just be urine concentration was greater the day before etc.

I hope that you get some reassurance soon, are you going back did another hcg quant test soon?

Thank you Woodwaj & Willitbe for your replies.

I think I will do the cheapy tests and see if they get darker. I have to do something I can't believe I have to wait until Friday for another blood test. Surely an blood test after 3 or 4 day after would give me an answer?

Willitbe I like your mantra "Today I'm pregnant!!!" I'm saying that to myself Smile Thanks x x

Yes, 5! Blush
I've done some eBay cheapy tests, but the line doesn't seem to be getting darker. I don't think that can be a good sign.

But for now I am still pregnant, just taking one day at a time...
Thanks for asking x
