Hey been ttc #2 since may. Decided to use opk this cycle. On my fertile week according to app so started testing Monday and due to O on Sunday or there about a. Using cheap strip tests off eBay. First two had faint lines in test window which I was aware meant the surge is coming and wait till both lines are of equal strength? Tested today day 3 and its totally (-) no faint line at all?? Help please

Thank you

HI MrsLady I am no expert as have only been using OPKs for 1 cycle.

Do you mean there are no lines in either the Control or Test Area? If yes - then it's probably a dud and you should pee on another strip.

If there is no line at all in the Test Area, when there was a faint line yesterday, I say test again with concentrated urine (don't drink lots of fluids prior) and see what happens.

Good luck!

Hi iv posted some pics to show the difference if you can have a look. There is one line on 2nd one which I'd take as a negative?

I would say both negative, the test line has to be as dark as the control line or darker so I would keep testing.

You use the same opks as me ,ha ha! They are both negative. Don't know if faint lines mean ovulation is on its way or not? I've had faint lines for the last three days...

A faint test line can mean;
Normal LH levels - some people have a faint test line visible through most of their cycle
Rising LH levels towards LH peak (before your positive test)
Falling LH levels after LH peak (after your positive test)
Raised LH levels for another reason (eg some people have a couple of periods of higher LH levels before they get their peak and the positive test)

Personally I used to get 3 to 4 days of faint test lines before my positive. On the first few cycles of using OPKs I recommend using them 2 or 3 times a day to ensure you don't miss your peak (some people have a very short peak and you can miss your positive if you are only testing once a day). Also it helps to stick them onto a sheet of paper in order and write the time/date you took the test next to each stick. This will help you see a pattern for future cycles

I'm on cd9 so am assuming I haven't missed my fertile period, especially as I've had no ewcm either. Last month, the only time I had lines on my opks was when they were very dark (cd17-19) so this month's results are different. Unfortunately I can only do one test a day, as I leave for work at 7am and get home between 5 and 7pm.

Vjones can you not test at work during lunch and again when you get home? Twice a day is better than once if you can only do morn and eve, at least for the first few cycles. However I used to test at work (plastic cup in handbag into the loo, dip the stick, empty and discard the cup, you can put the test in a sandwich bag in your handbag while it dries)

Yes, I guess so. Will have to buy sandwich bags and cups though so won't be able to do it for a few days.

Iv only been doing one a day since Monday. I tried them on a previous month and got dark two lines on day that was meant to be ovulation day. Any tips for DTD? As in everyday every 2nd....?

Dtd every two days throughout the month until you get positive opk and then do it every day for tge next four days.

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 19:52

MrsL you won't have ovulated on the day you got the two lines (positive), you would ovulate 12 to 36 hours after then. Often people give up DTD too early, so if you get a positive on Monday keep DTD until at least Thursday

I'm due to ovulate Sunday according to app. So DTD Sunday, Monday hopefully tonight and try get in few times over weekend as both working and Monday to make sure? That sound like good coverage? Hehe

This month for me the line got a little darker then disappeared for a couple of days. After that it started to get darker again and I had a positive this morning. Hope it's the same for you.

Keep testing at least daily Lady, I would guess you are starting your LH surge

Mrs lady your OPKs will be more accurate at pinpointing O than an app

Lady what day of your cycle are you on? Are you testing more than once a day? If you are only testing once a day your LH surge may be missed by the OPK.
Does your app think you are going to ovulate on day 14 because of previous cycles or because it is using the average 28 day cycle?

Report
MrsLadyL · 06/09/2013 20:49

I'm on CD 12. It's worked out on my average cycle since feb... Have done 1 one day and 2 the others. Iv used them before getting serious when we decided to ttc#2 and they seemed to be spot on. Very strong (+) when I was meant to. As I was monitoring my body too but I just don't know anymore... Maybe because we have played the lets see what happens game and nothing now we are a bit like ok we need to have a better look at this and chart.
