Both my partner and I are 43 and have been TTC #1 for 9 months (DP has two children by previous marriage but I have never been pregnant). Because of our age, I went to see our GP early on who thankfully was very supportive ? had my LH, FSH, Progesterone tests done ? all normal/good for fertility and showed ovulation. We referred ourselves to a fertility clinic privately (as not entitled to anything under NHS) to see what assistance might be suitable for us (eg. ISCI/IVF etc). SA analysis showed DP sperm were lower than normal in all scores but whilst not ideal not prohibitive. Transvaginal scan showed my right ovary was ?small and inactive? so my left ovary has been doing all the work every month. He confirmed ovulation (I had had my temp rise the morning of scan so it does work!) I also had the AMH test done.
Last Wednesday at 10DPO I tested on a FRER because I had not been able to sleep past 5.30am for 5 days (unheard of for me as I love my sleep ) and I got my BFP . Later that day the clinic called me to tell me that my AMH levels were 1.3 where minimum levels should be 20 thereby indicating extremely low ovarian reserves. I was a) given my previous test results which were all good and b) my bpf .
Anyway the point of this very long winded post (apologies) is I know its early days for me and my partner and at our age I am at a higher risk of miscarriage (please, please stick around ) but I wanted to share my experience with anyone else who had tests showing low ovarian reserve/one ovary/ sluggish sperm - it clearly doesn't mean you can?t get pregnant
Good luck to you all. X
