Can I ask some advice.... New to TTC

I've just started using OPK sticks to help me calculate when I'm ovulating. I'm on day 12 of my cycle (normally 28-30 days).

Tested yesterday and no LH reading although I had lots of CRM (which I always used as an indicator before)
We DTD last night anyway as DH was away to work early today and I'm working away overnight.

Anyhoo did the test again this morn and it says yes to LH. I won't see DH until late tomorrow night now so worried we have missed the opportunity this month! I know it's not the end of the world but I travel so much for work I'm worried that this will keep happening!

Any advice?

Sperm can service in the womb for 3-5 days. DF and I are ttc too. Good luck.

Thank you littlepea
I'm just anxious not to waste a month. I'm planning to jump him as soon as I get home tomorrow night too just in case.

Good luck with TTCing

Makingdoo, from my (small) experience, but plenty of Internet research, and background as a sex educator in schools (don't ask!!). You DTD at exactly the right time as the sperm can live inside for some time, so hittin it just before the egg is released is perfect, do jump him when you get home tomorrow though, as he'll have regenerated his sperm nicely!!

The wisdom seems to be that you ovulate up to 36 hours after positive test and that the egg survives for up to 24 hours thereafter so you should definitely add tomorrow night into the mix (although yesterday was also very well timed). Good luck!

The cycle I got pregnant we weren't able to DTD the day of the smiley as we were out from 7am til 3am the next day. We had DTD the 3 nights before and also DTD the night after. So you've timed it perfectly. As everyone says, just do it again tomorrow to make sure.

By the way, sperm has to have been inside you for at least 10 hours before it is capable of fertilising the egg, so DTD prior to OV is preferable.

Thanks everyone! I must sound like I haven't a clue about all this! I've purposely not been doing my research as I have a really controlling side that would sap the fun out if it all!

I'm so happy to hear you all say that we timed it right!! Looking forward to trying again tomorrow night now!

Good luck for Tuesday littlepea

Hoping I can come back with done good news in a few weeks. Positive thoughts and all that!

Hi, not sure if it will help but I read a post on another site from a natural fertility expert about how to tell when you are fertile, its all about your bodies signs leading up too and during fertile time so may be worth a read, I found it quite interesting and just embedds the things we know but forget about. the link if it helps is forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537 Hope this helps, but I reckon you should be ok!! Good luck xxx

Makingdoo - thank you and keeping our fingers crossed. But to be honest don think we are lucky this month even with my imagined pregancy symptoms hungry all the time, wee'ing a lot, emotional, crying etc. I get this with PMT anyway. Ha ha

Good luck and wishing you lots of baby making magic. Grin
