Experiences of TTC #2 - what's a good gap? How soon is too soon?

After years of being INCREDIBLY broody I have a gorgeous DD who is just over 4 months old. I thought I would have a year or so without feeling the urge to have another baby but am already finding myself wanting another one (despite swearing never again in the hours after DD's birth).

AF has still not returned and I (logically) don't want to be pg before DD is over 1 so its all a bit academic, but I was wondering how other people have found it planning for number 2. How long did you wait? Any pros / cons? Would you do it differently if you could do it again?

Thanks!

I would typically not have AF for the first 6-10 months, but even so I found the 2 year gaps the best.

our gaps so far : 2years, 17 months, 2 years, 3.5 years (had MC in between) then 2 years again.

Baby girl's just turned 1, so I've already figured out that I'd like next one to be born by mid-August 2014 the latest (I'll be turning 40 then), so I have about 5 months to TTC.

3 out of 6 were conceived on the first night of trying, so I'm not worried about that, but my DH wants no more.
I told him it is just so likely I'll get pg anyway, so I'd rather plan and time it well as I'd prefer with another 2 year gap, but if he agreed I'd be happy with anything really! aaaaahhhh I'm so broody, it's unfair!

hope this helps.

Wow, thanks amazing! I was thinking we'll have 2 or 3 but maybe I'll end up still being broody and having 7 too!! Do you think you'll have many more? How do you manage? I struggle to get both me and DD dressed some days and thats just with one! ;-)

2 years sounds like a good gap. I suppose that means TTC roughly this time next year. Feels like a long time to wait (but I reckon I need that long to prepare myself for the idea of giving birth - does that get less painful?!)

My DD is 7 months and I am soooo broody! Like you I thought it would be a while before I wanted another and I definitely said that I would never do it again after DD was born! I'm trying to hang on a few more months, although like you I still havent had a period. I only stopped breastfeeding 3 weeks ago and the HV said I should give it at least 6 weeks! I think the closer I can get to her being one the better! I'd like to make sure DD is atleast 18months when the next one comes along!
