Last tested a week ago and it was negative. Saw the dr on Friday who said to wait it out and see if af turns up. If not regular in a few months to go back. Last cycle was 33 days. Does anyone have any experience of cycles lengthening for any reason? Why would I not ovulate or miss a period?

Pregnancy?

Stress/illness could have delayed you ovulating. Which would in turn delay AF.

I take it you don't normally have irregular cycles. I quite often have a 40 something day cycle so I personally wouldn't be that surprised!

No my cycles are normally pretty regular. I was on the pill for a few years but came off it in October. I don't feel pregnant and the last test I took was negative. The dr felt my tummy but that's all.

I haven't been ill or stressed, really hoping its a fluke and not something sinister.

It is totally normal for all women to have the occasional annovulatory period. Some women just have a longer cycle some appear to skip a period altogether. Being late for one period is nothing to worry about. Although when it happens to you when you are ttc then it is difficult not to worry I know.

Also stress can delay ovulation and ttc can be very stressful for some women. It is not uncommon for delayed periods to occur while ttc.

I hope that you period arrives soon for you and that you can get back to ttc soon.

Some women find tracking their cycles helpful using bbt temping or checking cervical mucus, have you considered if this would be right for you?

How do I check my temp (only have underarm thermometer) and cervical mucus?

Last time we decided to have a baby, came off the pill and conceived on the second cycle as I knew when I would ovulate. Now I have no idea when I might ovulate!

Hi, if you do want to start, then a good place is by looking at the fertility friend dot com website. The charting course gives plenty of information. If you want to start using the site, it is free to do so, and very helpful.

Otherwise if you don't want to track your cycle, just dtd every other day is the other way, but that can become very stressful on the relationship!

I hope that it happens soon for you.

Ok so it looks like af is finally starting on cd43. So do I assume that I ovulate 14ish days from now and go from there? I will take a look at that site when I get a bit of time to read. Thank you!

It is not correct to assume that ovulation happens around 14 days before the start of the next period. It is also quite possible to have periods without ovulating which may well be what has happened here.

Absolutely not! For instance, I believe I ovulation around day 28!

Ladies on here recommended Taking Charge of Your Fertility (book). It's so worth getting. We're currently taking temps every morning, checking cervical fluid and position. Making me feel much more in control and DH can help too.

Gosh there's so much I don't know! Well I guess we will just have sex as much as possible and hope for the best. I downloaded the fertility friend app so will see if that helps. I notice that at one point in the month cm is clear and stretchy and the amount increases. Think this must happen around the time of ovulation.

Yup you've got that right. Its really worth buying the book because there is so much I really didn't know.

Your temp should be taken in the morning just as you are waking up. You'll see a spike in temperature after ovulation. Buying a Basal body temperature helped us too. DH gets up before me so puts it in my mouth whilst I'm still half asleep.

Cervical fluid as you've said becomes like egg white when you are ovulating - clear (ish) and stretchy.
