Can someone explain these progesterone results to me?

I have just called the GP to get my progesterone results. In my case it was a day 20 (because 7dpo landed on a Saturday) and day 23 (9dpo).

Day 20 was 29.6 and then my temp went up quite a bit on 7dpo so assume if may have gone up by 7dpo. But my 9dpo result is 15.9 and my temp dipped on that day with some very odd bleeding. My temp has gone up slightly today on 10dpo.

So I am guessing that my progesterone is dropping too soon?

I am seeing a gp tomorrow but juxtaposed wondered if someone can give me an idea of what to expect...

So day 20 was 6 dpo?

I think the general rule is that progesterone is expected to peak 7 days after ov and over 30 would be enough to confirm ov. As you were only a smidge off this, they might want to repeat, but I would say that probably confirms ov.

Most drs don't seem to worry about prog levels beyond that, so the 9 dpo test will probably be disregarded.

But doesn't the 9dpo reading show that my progesterone is dropping too soon which is what is causing me to spot any day from 8dpo onwards? They wouldn't disregard that would they?

I'm hoping that they will prescribe some progesterone to lengthen my lp... I have started on some b6 aswell in case that helps...

Well they wouldn't normally test at 9dpo so they wouldn't know how quickly it drops off in most people. I've been ttc for almost 2.5 years now and have had one progesterone test that gave a result of 30.0 on 6dpo, no others. And the drs have all glanced at that result and moved on to looking for other things. You might get lucky and have a dr who accepts that progesterone supplementation helps. I've seen loads of women on these boards with concerns about prog levels, and none of their drs appears to be bothered.

When I started ttc, my LP was about 11 days. It's now 13/14. I've taken B6 and had acu. I'm not sure which one is responsible for the improvement.

G'luck.

Thanks euro. I've been charting and now I ovd so I will take my charts with me to the GP tomorrow. Stupidly I thought your progesterone went up continuously after ovulation, but I realise that around 7dpo is peak which indicates that it tends to drop afterwards.

I've got my b6 that I bought yesterday so I will try that to start with. Thank you again.
