Hi cate I am in the same boat. Have several friends who conceived number 1 in late 30s without difficulty but did take about a year. They then had no bother at all ttc number 2 in early 40s. I'm on cycle 7 at the minute and trying to stay optimistic. I turn 39 in July and would live to be pregnant before then.

Hi Bajas thanks, that is good to hear Smile I definitely wanted to be pregnant before 39 but the year goes so quickly. I was actually hoping to have a baby in 2013 but it will hopefully be 2014. Maybe cycle 7 will be lucky for you, fx. Worst thing is I am constantly questioned as to when I'll be having a baby! Am running out of things to say.

That's great littlepink! Always food to hear about the positive :)

cate I know what you mean about people constantly asking although dh gets it worse than I do. I think people are asking him to be sensitive to me but he finds it hard too. Myself and 2 others in work got married last July and all feel the pressure of expectation from colleagues.

Fx this month is good for us.

I know Bajas I suppose they mean well although someone said to me recently 'oh I thought you had children, so what's wrong with you then!' Shock Best of luck to you this month I have AF due tomorrow but hoping for a lucky April.

I had dd1at 18. Dd2 at 37. Both conceived very easily. However dc3 is proving somewhat of a Challenge! In the last 3 years both my dh and I have developed issues which mean we're not likely to conceive another (been trying for 2 years now). Bit odd esp dh as was clearly very fertile before and he's a fair bit older than me so really you never know. I think as a woman you expect fertility to fall a bit but we were hoping it wouldn't!
Sorry if that's not as positive as you hoped but I think my point is its very unpredictable.
Good luck, there is definitely hope!

My sister had her first baby at 41 without any issues at all [busmile]

I am TTC my first at 43! (Took me a long old while to meet my DP) We have had all the regular fertility tests via GP (eg. progesterone, FSH, LH, SA etc) and all seems to be in good order so it is more than possible at your tender age!. We are going to a fertility consultation privately to see what our options are as I will be 44 soon (how did this happen....). We have only been trying for six months but we don't have any time to waste really.

I think of 39 as a brilliant age to have a baby - wishing you all the luck. I would go and have a chat with your GP sooner rather than later to establish/confirm if everything is working as it should and if not get some treatment. Lots of issues that get in the way of TTC are easily rectified ( but regrettably not all of them).

I feel pg by accident DH thinks so at 38 and ha mc at 7 weeks. Then fell pg again 3 months later and am now 23 weeks. I turned 39 in January. We don't have sex half as much as some of the ladies here so I believe I'm extremely lucky. Don't know if I can bear the thought of going through this again but for the moment I'm focusing on getting ready for my little girl in July. Hang in there. We are spring chickens GrinGrin

After getting married in August I went to see the GP to say we were going to be TTC so if there was an issue they had a date when we had started trying- had a blood test on an early date of my cycle, was asked to come back later in the next cycle but was already pregnant by then. Now 26 weeks and due 10 1/2 months after the wedding! We feel really fortunate - I turned 39 on Friday! Good luck! Smile

Hi cate

I accidently fell pregnant with my first at age 41and gave birth just after I turned 42. Eighteen months later I fell pregnant with my second. During this time DH and i weren't actively TTC, but weren't doing anything to prevent conception either.

Good luck. I hope you get your BFP soon.

Two frends recently had their first children at 40 and 41 respectively. Another close friend is pregnant at 38 and well into her pregnancy now. Have you seen your GP? Might be worth getting the ball rollng with fertility tests etc? Seven months is no time to be trying at all, but it might put your mind at rest. Another friend has just found out at 38 that she wont be able to conceive without some help, so is gettng the IVf ball rolling now.

Good luck! Plenty of women have children at 38 and much older!

Yes definitely. My friend turns 40 next week and her ds1 is 10 months. Not entirely sure how long it took but it was natural - there is hope.

I found out I was preggo on my 40th but didn't quite believe it for a couple of weeks (took us 6 months to get the BFP). The preggo line is now 10 months old and at the grand old age of 41 (!) I hoping to get updiffed again with another one soon (trying for one month so far). But I know that even 41 isn't really THAT old . You will be fine, try to relax but agree BassDownLow's comment about perhaps speaking to your doctor to set your mind at ease. Good luck! x
