Ok so this may be a long one, bear with me

My DH and I started TTC in Jan 2011. In Jan 2012 we had tests done. I had blood tests and ultrasound/trans-vaginal scan and DH had sperm analysis, all tests were fine. I fell pregnant in June last year and had mmc in August. We've been trying again since September with no success.

Went back to doctor in February who said that the clock restarts from when I had my mc, and because my tests were fine and we're both healthy, the chances are I'll get pg again within a year, so they won't do anymore investigations until August.

I've been charting for the first time the last two months and although my cycles are regular and I'm getting a positive opk, my temp is all over the place. I also don't get any EWCM which probably isn't helping.

I just don't know what to do. Been trying to stay positive but just wish we didn't have to wait until August to get more tests done because we will have been trying for over 2.5 years then which I just find ridiculous!!

Any suggestions, advice or just positive stories to cheer me up would be gratefully received Smile

Hi Sonics
I don't have experience with ttc so long nor after mc. I'm currently cycle 2 trying for #4
How old are you? just in case it could have an effect on your fertility, from what I've read on conception boards a lot of GP's are quite unsympathetic clueless about the 'bigger picture' of ttc. Could you see another?

Have you trawled the net looking for anything you can do to increase ewcm? e.g - drink more water, avoid caffeine, take cough medicine, use a sperm friendly conception aid etc....

I'm sure those with more experience will be along soon to give some proper advice, I just didn't want to read and run.
I hope you fall naturally before you need any further tests, fx for you and good luck x

Hi Sonics - we're having a rough time with TTC so I know how you feel. A bit.

I guess the doctors won't do more tests because you have been able to conceive already, which means that your likelihood of conceiving again within a year is quite high. That probably isn't what you want to hear, but I'm sure it will happen for you.

Lots of people on here have recommended using Conceive Plus lube every time you have sex. It's got a good success rate apparently because it works in place of EWCM. As said previously, drinking lots of water is meant to help too.

Depending on how old you are, I'd agree with dondon and perhaps you need more investigative tests so that you don't miss any age-related deadlines with fertility help. Sometimes you just need to be persistent with doctors! Hmm

Try to stay positive. I know it's hard, but you will get there. Maybe join a support thread on here - they're very good and the people are lovely. It can be really helpful for your mental state just to let it all out to people who are in the same boat. Best of luck.

Hi Bear sorry that you're having a tough time of it too.

I second that about - keep coming here for support, there's many many lovely people on these boards with advice or just an ear to lend.

Hi Sonics,

This may or may not be helpful but it is well intended.

Do you feel any of the ongoing pressure for two years has caused you stress?

If it has perhaps relaxation techniques for you and your partner may be beneficial because I believe high stress levels can cause difficulty in conceiving.

Or ensuring you take 'me' time, go for a massage or read a book. Things which help you relax and feel happy.

Just a thought from a person who really knows nothing about this as only in mth 2 of TTC

Lots of happy thoughts though

xxx

can I come in please?

Can you add me to the list as I'm on my phone

Sonics. 32. TTC since jan 2011. MMC in aug 2012. Due 22nd march

I've copied from the thread I posted yesterday for a full download on me. Fortunately my temp has gone up this morn so hopefully it'll stay that way.

Sorry to hear your not having an easy time. It's really difficult to pin point exactly what works, but I cut out caffeine, and took 5mg of folic acid. Also used conceive plus lube (tbh anything is with a try). Watch your DHs alcohol intake. Could you book a short holiday to get away for a while many couples swear by a holiday when trying to conceive. Other option is to get done tests done privately if you can afford it?
I've had 3mcs and now 25 weeks so hang in there Thanks

Hey. I really feel for you. I got pregnant easily with DS, but my current pregnancy has taken us three years of trying. We both lost a bit of weight, and I don't know of it's coincidence but we had had a couple of weeks off the booze when we conceived. Also I had just had hsg test and was waiting for appointment at fertility clinic. I couldn't believe my BFP, I think I had given up.

It's great that you have been able to conceive, but I am so sorry for your MMC. That must be very tough. I wish you a healthy pregnancy very soon.

Thanks everyone. We've both pretty much cut out alcohol since jan and I've given up caffeine too (DH doesn't drink it anyway).

We're both pretty healthy really (which is one of the reasons why the doc thinks we'll conceive naturally)

Also been using pre-seed for about a year and been taking pre-conception vitamins for about a year too.

So I feel like we've tried everything. A holiday sounds like a great idea, just have to convince DH to spend the money as we've just broke the bank getting a new kitchen fitted!!

I am still hopeful but sometimes I think that's worse as it makes the disappointment worse every month.

Thanks for the replies Smile
