Newbie with long cycle and CBFM/ov question...

Hi All!

New to Mumsnet and hoping someone might be able to help.

We've been TTC for about 7 months with no luck.

I think I had two chemical pregnancies in a row where I tested early and got positives for 4 or 5 days 2 months in a row but then period arrived :(

It might seem silly but sort of saw it as a possible positive as I had chlamydia about 10 years ago and since then I worried that it might have affected our chances but if I at least got a positive then maybe my fallopian tubes were sort of intact :( Or maybe I'm hoping too much.

Anyway - my question is - that I am using the CBFM monitor and my cycle is anywhere from 33 to 36 days it seems. On the first month I used it I ov'd on day 20 - this month it was on day 14....

I'm confused as my cycles are still equally long and I therefore have no idea if the luteal phase can be that long...??

Anyone else have a long cycle with such varied ov days?

Thanks!

Hi there....sorry to hear about the losses.
I think its unlikely that your luteal phase would alter so much...a day either way maybe but not a few days. CBFM's do take a few cycles to get to know you and for some people with irregular cycles they just dont work. Their helpline is very good if you give them a call.
Do you temp and chart atall? It may be worth doing it as it will give you a better idea if you ovulated and you can compare the cbfm and your chart.
Use //www.fertilityfriend.com if you don't already
I had to give up on my cbfm last year after my cycles went haywire...anything from 28 to 50 days. I have found that after a few cycles of temping and using opks that I know my body really well and can tell by the signs that I am gearing up to ovulate. Smile

Thanks Calibee! Ive been using the cbfm for about 5 months now so thought it should have settled down by now :( All the signs seem to match what its saying though - well - there is definite ewcm when it says high or peak - including this month so a bit confused! I might have to try temping too as feel like Im getting nowhere fast. I also think I need to do a bit more reading up on luteal phases as still not entirely sure what the deal is...!
