As if ttc wasn't nerve wrecking enough, we like the extra challenge of getting that BFP while still breastfeeding a baby or toddler. While this isn't an easy endouvour, it certainly isn't impossible as many graduates on the previous threads prove.

I'm posting a link here for any newcomers about fertility while breastfeeding.

Am also wonderig if you'd like to have some sort of stats for the tread members. I'll just start myself.

Hello! I'm a graduate and it's about a year since my BFP so wanted to say hi and wish you all luck smile DS is 4m and BFing well too.

I was wondering about jakeyblueblue the other day, are you around still?

mrsdiddlydoo Sat 04-Jan-14 09:34:14

Hi there everyone. Happy New Year! Another lurker here saying hello. Our DS is 10 months and we've been TTC since AF returned in October. Down to 3 or 4 bfs in 24 hours. Not convinced I'm ovulating so considering starting charting. Managed to conceive on first cycle last time (amazing and also a bit daunting cos it happened to quickly) so trying very, very hard not to think about it all too much atm. Fingers crossed for happy news of BFPs from you all smile

I do wonder if it was the sudden change in her feeding that triggered it. She has always been a prolific feeder so for her to miss a night feed was a bit of a shock to my system!

TeacupTempest Fri 03-Jan-14 09:15:12

Hi ekk0 - I kept meaning to actively change our feeding pattern. I was toying with night weaning as DD was still feeding to sleep, at 2am, 4am 5.30am 6.30 etc but I couldnt bring myself to have a battle in the night.

In the end we had a few nights here and there last month when she slept through the 2am feed. Over the last few weeks she has fed less at night et voila...

Just before Christmas I had a week where it was so painful to feed her. I now presume that was ovulation. So fingers crossed my cycle doesn't take too long to get back on track.

ekk0 Thu 02-Jan-14 21:42:59

hi everyone
happy new year. how is everyone doing?

hi Teacup. good news on getting your period back - had you changed the feeding pattern recently, or did it just happen?

we had a good Christmas, although I am finding this fresh start to 2014 confusing, part of me feels sad I'm not pregnant (as my grand plan had thought - haha) and the other part of me thinks surely in 2014 I'll get my periods back/get pregnant before the year is up.

DD2 was ill last week and I feel driven slightly crazy by her wanting to lie on me 24hours a day/demanding milk constantly/rummaging down my top. It definitely made me think, I need to stop breastfeeding, but then, when I finally give in and feed her, she seems so happy afterwards, then I feel mean taking that away - aarrgh. Sorry for venting but in RL people get bored!

I think my plan is to try and cut out one more feed soon, so she is just having bedtime and first thing in the morning and see how that goes. I kind of feel like you radiator, if only feeding 3 times in 24 hours isn't going to do it (including a 12 hour gap) then it seems the only option is to stop. I just wish the cutting of the feeds I've done over the last few months had done it, to save me the decision. I also wish I could remember how much I was feeding DD1 when my AF came back at 14mths as I find it impossible to know, but I didn't really plan ahead for this situation.

I resolved to start temping in 2014, and now have a working thermometre, but with an ill DD2 3 hours straight sleep in a row isn't happening.

Anyway, I'm sure 2014 has to be our year everyone. I did try to resolve to relax about it, but as you can tell, it is only the 2 January and it isn't really working...

take care all.

Hi everyone just catching up.

Radiator sorry to hear about your MIL, that does sound stressful. Good to hear your dh is on board grin very exciting! I decided to try to be more subtle about it all because I got a bit obsessed and think I freaked him out waving my thermometer around so now I hide it under my pillow and temp before he wakes up!

Mister I love your optimism yes it would be fantastic if we can have new little ones for next christmas ! How wonderful. I'm on cd19 and my temp is up as of this morning, very similar to last month so maybe there is a pattern. Will have to wait and see!

Happy nye all! I am in bed as ever with restless teething dd!

radiatormesh Tue 31-Dec-13 18:10:55

How's everyone doing?

DH has agreed to start ttc this cycle which is exciting smile Although where I am in my cycle is another matter: got some period cramps over the weekend and cm seems to have dried up a little, but there's no way that could have been ovulation - would only have been 5 days post AF...

Am v confused.... My OPKs (ebay cheapies) arrived yesterday though so lots of responsible obsessive peeing on them awaits.!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn Mon 30-Dec-13 09:41:49

Hi everyone, sorry for the long Christmas absence - we have been away (to 3 different places) over the last 2 weeks and got back yesterday. I woke up this morning very confused about where I was! Had a lovely Christmas although a few too many colds but that's unavoidable really.

Not much to report on the ttc front - currently on cd15 but as I forgot to take my thermometer away with me I have no idea if I've ov yet or not. I am down to just expressing once a day now, I always mean to do more but it's so hard to keep it up especially over the holidays and my supply is dwindling.

Glad you had a good Christmas cat, could it have been an implantation dip maybe? How are you feeling now? It's a bit early for symptoms I suppose, let's hope you can get the thread off to a positive start for the new year!

Waiting how are things? I hope you got to relax a bit over Christmas. Any sign of AF? I can start the new thread if you're having trouble accessing a laptop.

Radiator it sounds like you have an exciting year ahead, fingers crossed for a new baby in your new home! It is strange to think that some of us (hopefully all) will have a new baby by next Christmas as you say, this last year seems to have gone so quick that I can't quite picture such a big change by next year. With ds the 9 months seemed to drag on for ever but I have a feeling that the second time around it would go in a flash!

Lelly hope you're keeping well and haven't had too much morning sickness to deal with over Chrsitmas.

radiatormesh Fri 27-Dec-13 11:35:59

Well just a pathetic little AF again for me.... so frustrating.

Christmas was hard work: inlaws are staying. MIL has been diagnosed with very early stage breast cancer for which she's about to receive treatment, but has made no changes to her lifestyle (fairly heavy drinking, no fruit and veg etc) at all which makes me angry. Trying to accept that she's an adult though!!

Hope everyone's on track and excited for 2014: some of us will have a new baby by this time next year!!

catellington Thu 26-Dec-13 22:07:23

Hi all sorry for christmas silence. How was everyone's christmas? Ours was fab.

I am on cd14, nothing unusual to report except temp plummeted for one day yesterday. Then went back to normal. confused

waiting hope stress levels are better for you all in 2014

radiator that sounds exciting!

Hope everyone else is on track and that we all get the bfps we deserve in 2014!!!!!

radiatormesh Sun 22-Dec-13 19:48:14

I'm here but nothing's happening. Thought I was ovulating about two weeks ago (heavy feeling on one side etc etc) but no AF as of yet. Am knicker-checking like someone in first tri...

And it's not even urgent: we're moving across the world next summer so getting pregnant in the next cycle would probably be a bad thing anyway. Just concerned that I'm going to have to totally stop nursing in order to become fertile: DS's only on 3 feeds a day (going 10-12hrs between two of them) and if that's not enough to trigger fertility, then nothing but zero feeding will be fsad

Hi all

Are we still on this one?

lelly78 Wed 18-Dec-13 19:59:00

I posted... Am doing a wimsey!

lelly78 Wed 18-Dec-13 19:58:36

Thanks ladies, I played and then have been knackered as usual! So nice to read your congratulations, I have told people in rl as well so I keep hoping I am not tempting fate but i also know what will be will be.

Yes I plan to keep on feeding if DS still wants to so it might be interesting! Hopefully shouldn't get mastitis this time anyway grin

Gl ladies and see you on the new thread x
