Hi ladies,
My DH and I have been TTC DC#2 for over 3 years with absolutely no luck.
I know it's more than likely due to my weight, because since having our first DC I have never lost the extra weight. Ive had 1 period in over 4 years and that was due to me being given medication to kick start it last year, I had one huge, long lasting period and nothing again since. I understand it's also more than likely my weight.

Today I have bought some Pregnacare Conception Vitabiotics. Will these help my body become slightly heathier? I plan on making as many changes as I can myself, too.

I'm becoming desperate now to try make my body at least do something, whether it means producing a period or just being all round healthier.

Are the Vitabiotics a big waste of money? Blush

The contain folic acid, which you should be taking if you are trying. I took them but I am a bit sceptical as to the merits of all the other stuff in there but I figured it wouldn't do any harm. They are unlikely to make your periods appear.

TBH, from the info you have posted (rare periods and weight) it sounds to me like you ahve PCOS. Losing weight could bring your periods back. Eating a low GI diet should help to regulate your hormone levels. The PCOS website Verity has lots of useful info and a good forum.

Have you seen your dr yet? If the problem is PCOS, a drug called metformin might help. Good luck.

There was a study last year about a substance called inositol (which is in Pregnacare conception) doing more to stop neural tube defects than folic acid alone. That?s the only reason I?m shelling out. Otherwise a cheaper brand, or just folic acid would be fine I?d have thought! It was a small study.

However, it definitely sounds like time for a hassling visit to your GP to get some proper support on this.

I took it for 4 months and it made me so constipated I got really ill, sick and headaches all of the time.

I would say folic acid, a healthy diet and excersise is the best thing, high protien and low carb.

I would also see I doc if you don't have periods though.

Good luck!

I took these too Kitten and I got really bad headaches and nausea about 3 months in.

Now I just take Vit B complex, if and when I get pregnant I will try and take Pregnacare again.
