Hi all - this is my first post so be kind!
I just wanted to know people's views on acupuncture. I had my 1st session yesterday. I have an open mind - but would love to hear success stories or any recommendations.
I have had 3 MC's in the last 16 months & am now trying alternative therapies. Thanks :)

It's a yes from me.

I went once a fortnight TTC & it only took us 5 months. Very lucky I know! Was careful about diet, alcohol & exercise too

With anything like that, it's your kinda bag or it isn't & it suits my hippy ways Smile

Don't feel the first practitioner is the one you should stick with either. I got a recommendation & really clicked with her from the first consultation

Mine's in Manchester & if that's anywhere near you I'll happily pass on the number

Sorry about the MC & good luck Thanks

I'm 35 btw & 23 weeks pg

Thanks for your reply GeordieCherry & congratulations! I'm 41 & live in Hertfordshire.

The lady I saw was lovely, it's just so expensive & she wants to see me weekly for the 1st month! But it'll all be worth it I hope :) I'm also watching my diet & she's told me to avoid dairy products too.

I don't seem to have conception issues, just can't hold them. She's advised me to have an AMH test too...?

Thanks again :)

Maybe you'll save on cheese what I'm saving on red wine & reinvest it on getting needled Wink

It was worth it for me

Thanks for the good wishes, I was really worried it might not happen for us & of course lots of friends got pg during our ttc time too Hmm

Enjoy working on yourself, taking control & knowing that you're stacking all the odds in your favour Smile

Hi, All sounding quite positive, which as an acupuncturist is very welcome news.
Re: shop around because price vary quit a lot. an example of this is chelmsford. you can get exactly the same treatment for £33 or £72. I am sure you will all agree this is quite a difference.

AndSha - I'm paying £48 (1st consultation was £60) - but it's a small price to pay if it'll assist in my chances of falling! I will continue to keep a positive mind thank you.

Hi Flawless

I have just started acupuncture this week and have two sessions on cd9 and cd13. The lady I am seeing is also a GP (which is unusual I think) and quite a no-nonsense kind of woman. She has told me that she only wants to see me twice each cycle in the run up to ovulation .....in her words once that bits over you're either pregnant or not so no use in any treatment until the next cycle. She has advised me ideally on CD4 (towards end of period) and CD13 (which should be just before ovulation). Can't tell if it has helped as only just started! She did mention that in France they focus on the latter part of the cycle so who knows who is right!?

I think I ovulated yesterday/am ovulating today so will see what happens. Wish you all the very best and if nothing else it was quite relaxing (she stuck a needle in my forehead to assist with stress and I nodded off!)

Hi

Im another advocate for acupuncture. I go to an experienced physio who also qualified in this. Shes been amazing. I hadnt had a period in a year or two and suddenly I started to have them again -didnt chaanything else. A v positive experience so far and v relaxing if nothing else. I pay £38 but am in North Wales.

Studies have shown that people report improvements to their ailments even if a completely non "qualified" person does the acupuncture. IE as long as someone is wearing a white coat and sounds as if he knows what he's talking about, he can stick the needles in absolutely anywhere and patients feel better.

Very expensive placebo.

Hi there
Re this post:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/a1662677-Acupuncture-your-views
I just read your post about accupuncture and live in the Manchester area. Am wondering if I can get the details of the person you go to? I had it for my DS1 and it helped us conceive, but my accupuncturist has now moved away. Boo. Also, how much do you pay (if you don't mind telling me this!).
